I used Rimmel Deliciously Dark as my case colour and then stamped on a lace design from Konad Plate M57 using Beauty UK Olympic Bronze. It’s topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Here I have some more indie swatches for you! These two are from Denmark based brand, Wellnails and are both part of the How I Met Your Mother collection. I’m not a huge fan of the show but I am a huge fan of these polishes. They are awesome! See what I did there?!
Foxy Fishbabe is a purple jelly packed with green and purple hexes and squares. I wore 2 coats of Foxy Fishbabe over one thin coat of Barry M Bright Purple but it’s a two coater on its own. I always just like to have a bit of extra padding underneath jellies so there’s no VNL. I topped it with one coat of Seche Vite.
Next up is Rock in the New Year. I love that this isn’t a ‘pretty’ polish. Copper squares, blue hexes, blue bars and purple glitter shreds in a clear base make for a very exciting and different glitter polish. Here is 2 coats of Rock in the New Year over A-England Guinevere and topped with a coat of Seche Vite.

Here’s something you don’t see round these parts very often. A dainty, girly base colour! Poundland has been selling loads of Sally Hansen Complete Manicure polishes recently and Crinoline is one that I picked up this week. I didn’t want to go all out girly so I added some studs for toughness. Credit for the stud arrangement goes straight to Pinpoint Polish.
I used Sally Hansen Crinoline as my base coat with A-England Guinevere on my ring finger. Using a nail art brush I painted stripes of Guinevere then added on round studs and square studs from Born Pretty Store (10% off with SA5X31).
I used one coat of NYC In A New York Minute to top it off.

I had a brain meltdown when I was painting my Flag inspired nails and ended up doing two manicures so you get a bonus 31 Day Challenge post today! I’d had this idea written down for ages and was really looking forward to doing it. I got so excited that I kind of forgot it was part of the challenge since the challenge has started becoming more of a chore than a pleasure at this point. So anyway, I decided on the Jamaican Flag nail art and then remembered that I actually wanted to do this so I did it anyway! By the way, it’s inspired by a pirate flag!
I didn’t want to go for the traditional black background so I took out one of my many ‘near black’ shades, Deborah Lippmann Dark Side of the Moon* and used two coats as my base. I painted on the skull and crossbones and sword detail with white and black acrylic paint using a small nail art brush.
I added one coat of Revlon Facets of Fuschia to my thumb and pinky which I picked up for £1 in Discount UK and I’m pretty sure it’s exactly, EXACTLY the same polish as Scandalous which is part of the current range and is retailing for £6.49! That is scandalous!
Finally, I used two coats of NYC Top Coat to finish it all off.

Day 20 of the challenge is a bit late. This is definitely the strangest day of the challenge, a color is a very simple thing to find inspiration in so I kind of got lazy and just went for a purple ombre. So I guess you could say I was kind of inspired by purple?! I’ve never actually done an ombre manicure before and I really struggled to find the right colours for this one.

For day 18 of the challenge, we have to create half moon manicures. This is another day that I’ve been really looking forward to since I saw this half gradient, half half moon creation at Globe and Nail. I stole the Purple and Green colour combination from last year’s Day 18 manicure! I never know what to pair with green except for more green. Then my brain always skips to ‘What’s green?’ Grass and HULK… ‘What colour does he wear?’ PURPLE!
I used Essie Navigate Her as my base colour and applied a coat of Seche Vite to make it dry quickly.
Next I stuck Hole Reinforcers to my nails at the cuticle to mark off the half moon shape before creating a gradient with Julep Anne and a little more Navigate Her (gradient tutorial here).
Finally, I used a nail art brush with a bit of Julep Anne just to fill any any gaps on the moons and topped it off with two coats of Seche Vite.

Day 8 of the 31 Day Challenge calls for Metallic Nails and what’s more metallic than actual metal?! The gold stuff you see on my nails is this very interesting Nail Art Foil* from Born Pretty Store. It comes in sheets scrunched up in to little pots and it’s so light and thin that it’s barely even there. I just used a pair of tweezers to tear the foil up in to little pieces and place it on to my nails and I love the outcome. Since I don’t think I’ll be shedding out up to £30 for The Man With The Golden Gun any time soon, this is a great $6 alternative!
I used Cult Nails Vicious as my base colour. I painted one coat and then, one nail at a time, added a second coat and attached the foil while it was still tacky. I finished up with one coat of Seche Vite but it could have used two just to even out any bumps.
