    I Like Your Lines

I’m headed off on my summer holiday tomorrow – nowhere too glamorous, we’re just packing up the car and going camping in West Wales – so it’s been a very hectic weekend of preparation. I haven’t even packed my case yet and we’re leaving in the morning!
While I was checking off my ‘to-do before holiday’ list, I came across a note that said ‘@Lacquerologist’s Nail Art Competition’ and I thought I must have missed the deadline by now but it turns out the deadline is tonight so I squeezed in a bit of time to create my entry last night!
The criteria for the competition is that the manicure must be based on one of the days from the Abstract Nail Art Challenge. I chose to do Lines and came up with this staggered multi colour idea. I kinda wish I’d stuck to one colour palette but I’m still very pleased with this satisfactorily abstract outcome!

I won’t list the colours because there are at least 15 in the mix and I honestly can’t remember what they all are! The bottle in my hand is Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream and I’m confident that’s the lightest colour on my middle finger.
To get this effect, I painted on the base colour and then used a striping brush to paint on random lines straight from my cuticle to the tip. I then painted some half lines in the gaps and added a bit of glitter on top of a few of them. It’s all finished with a few coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

    Mernails

My obsession with glequins is still going strong! But as you know by now, I have to return to stamping every now and then because that’s where this whole nail art/blog thing started. So I just picked a stamp – one of my all time favourites from the 2011 BM set – and figured out after where I could put the glequins on!

    Raise Your Nails For Luca!

The subject of this post is kind of a serious topic considering the kind of stuff I usually write about. Today I want to take some time to tell you about an inspirational little boy of just 3 years old – Luca – who survived against all odds after he was diagnosed with Meningococcal Septicaemia in January this year. He didn’t come away unscathed however, and the devastating effect the disease had on his body meant he ended up losing both of his legs. A charity was founded to help raise the funds so that Luca will be able to get the best prosthetics available and every chance at a great life.

I’ve been following his story on Facebook for a while now and every little snippet brings a smile to my face. Luca’s got quite the online following and I’m not surprised. The campaign calls for everyone to ‘Raise Your Hands For Luca’. All you need is a pen and a palm to show your support, but you can read more about that on the Facebook Page. Of course, instead of writing it on my palm, I had to scribble it on my nails and raise them instead!

I thought I would just take some time to show my support to Luca the best way I know how and try to share the cause with you guys. Please go and Like or Follow ‘For Luca’. I do both and I promise you’ll love seeing his updates!

This base colour is No7 Lucky Lilac and I freehanded on the lettering with a small striping brush. The font is Action Jackson.
I used the 2012 Bundle Monster set with W7 Black to add some fancy details on the ‘spare’ nails.
Finally, I added a topcoat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

    Let Me Upgrade You

I added some black block detail to the gradient from my last post. I just took a striper brush and my trusty W7 Black to it and here’s the result. I looove it!
I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what’s going on with the Load N Vote contest. Voting should be live by now but it seems there’s another hiccup with their site and/or server. I am so sorry but I guess that’s the risk I took running a competition with a start up site. I know some of you saw the post that got published earlier today when voting was supposed to open, that will go up again once everything is fixed. Once again guys, I’m sorry, but it really is beyond my control.

    Gradient Nails Revisited

Sorry about yesterday’s extremely brief post but I’m going to leave you with one again today!
    #BadBloggerIsBad
The nail art comes easy to me but assembling words in to cohesive sentences seems like such an effort at the moment, so I hope you don’t mind me just posting pictures.

I used Barry M Bright Purple as a base and Barry M Silver Foil for the gradient (tutorial here)

Look Beauty: Nail Pop Glamrock Swatch and Nail Art

The Nail Pops from Look Beauty have been on my wishlist for a while now but at £5 for a 10ml bottle, they’re a bit out of my every day price range. Luckily for me, they’re running money off offer across the range and the Nail Pops have £2 off. Now £3 a bottle is a price that won’t keep me awake at night, so I indulged in the shade that struck me most out of the range – Glamrock. It’s purple glitter packed in to a deep berry jelly and can I just say? It’s amazing!
I was tempted by just about every single colour in the range but I’m trying to limit my polish purchases because I’m running out of space to store it all! I’ve decided I’m only going to purchase polishes that really stand out from the crowd and only if I don’t have something similar in my collection already. Glamrock definitely fits that criteria and I also have my eye on Catsuit from the same range – it’s a blue glitter but the pieces are a bit chunkier.
As gorgeous as this colour is I was dreading removal, as I always do with glitters, but it came of surprisingly easily. It did need a bit more work than ‘normal’ polishes but I think it was easier than quite gritty glitters because the glitter is very fine.
All pictures are 3 thin coats with a top coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast. You’d be safe with two thicker coats but I wanted quite heavy coverage.

    Cult Nails Vicious Skittle Art

I think I know why I’ve been completely obsessed with mix and matching my manis recently. I realised it’s just an excuse for every nail to be an accent nail! I like to just paint on a base colour and rummage through my supplies until I get ideas. Today’s center piece is Cult Nails Vicious which is one of my absolute favourite purple polishes.
