    Quilted Nail Art Tutorial

Quilted Nail Art Tutorial by The Nailasaurus
I got my hands on Adobe Premiere over the weekend and spent the better part of Sunday getting to grips with it. I’ve been itching to get some more professional software for a while and there’s a lot for me to learn but I’m excited to start making videos (slightly) more regularly and actually having them turn out the way I envision them.

I learn best by jumping in so I went right ahead and filmed a quick tutorial for a quilted nail art look that I’ve seen floating about. This is only my second time trying the technique so I’m still learning too. I can spot a few bald patches where I went in too hard with the pin but you can learn from my mistakes! Make sure your polish is dry enough before you start making dents in it. I certainly will next time. Read more

31DC2015: Green Nails with Stripes and Studs

Today’s Green Nails for Day 4 are a remix of a design I did a long time ago. I remembered the stripes and stud details but wasn’t sure what the colours were. When I looked back to find the first version, I saw that mint green was quite a prominent feature last time around too. Why mess with a good thing, I suppose!

I realise that we’re less than a week in to the challenge and I’ve already fallen behind but I’m determined to catch up asap! The worst thing is, I worked tirelessly all Thursday night to get my Green nails done (since I knew I wouldn’t have a chance on Friday) and then just totally forgot to schedule it. Dang!

    The Nails

The mint green on the ‘solid colour’ nails is Nicole by OPI Alex by the Books.

I used Barry M Coconut as the base white for the stripes and topped with a thin coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl. I placed two strips of Striping Tape down where I wanted the white to show through. I made the mistake of using purple tape so you can see where the colour has stuck at the edges. Note to self: next time use white striping tape!

The colour at the edges is OPI Gelato on My Mind (a shade that teeters right between mint green and candy blue) and the middle strip is Kriston 10. Finally, I added the 1.5mm Gold Studs on each nail and topped with another coat of HK Girl.

    Just a Refresher

    Green Gradient Nail Art

It’s a few weeks since I was in normal blogging mode and I must admit, I’m a bit rusty but slowly easing back in to the routine. I recently had another big sort out of my polishes and downsized my collection a fair bit. Whilst looking through I discovered a few hidden gems which I had forgotten were in there so I’ve brought them out to see the light of day and hop back to summer with my brights. I think the colour combination is very refreshing – it makes me think of ice cold cocktails somewhere sunny! Read more

    Curtain Call

China Glaze Fade Into Hue with Nail Art
I started this manicure with absolutely no idea where it was going. It’s one of those that just developed as I went along, all the while facing the very real risk of going completely overboard with colours, details and stick-ons but this one stayed on course and I really like the simple result. I just started with a general idea that I wanted to do something geometric and went from there. I’ve confessed before that my geometric nail art is not really A-game standard but it’s a style that I’m determined to practice and perfect this year!

China Glaze Fade Into Hue with Nail Art
    1. I started with a base of China Glaze Fade Into Hue.
    2. Next, I used a striping brush to paint on the cobalt blue sections in Nails Inc All Saints Row.
    3. Using the same brush, I carefully went over the line with Models Own Bubblegum.
    4. I felt like it was missing something so I dug through all of my studs before deciding on some 1.5mm white studs which I attached using a drop of clear nail polish.
    5. Finally, I topped it all off with Color Club Top Coat.

    Stampasaurus

It really happened! Finally someone put a T-Rex on a stamping plate and I am now the proud owner of that stamping plate! Winstonia are back with their 2nd generation stamping set and I couldn’t be happier with it. The set includes a great selection of designs and each plate has it’s own theme which has come in very handy when I want to find a specific design. Of course, the highlight for me is the prehistoric plate which features the T-Rex and a few other Jurassic beasts.

For this nail art, I used Sally Hansen Pinch of Punch as my base colour.
I stamped on a few designs from Winstonia’s 2nd Generation Set using BK Matte White.
The blue glitter is Claire’s Neon Blue and I added a few holographic 3mm studs from She Sells Seashells.
It’s all topped off with one coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

So Long and Thanks For All The Likes

This week was very exciting! The page that I run to accompany this blog reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook. I thought I’d mention it here as I feel like this is one to write home about and feel very proud of! I haven’t mentioned it on the blog but the number has been increasing steadily over the last few months although I never, ever thought it would reach 1 million. So I just want to say a huge thank you to anyone reading this that likes the page!

As a little celebration, I’m running a discount code in The Nailasaurus Emporium through until midnight on Monday (Dec 2nd). It’ll give you 30% off all orders over £10 and you just have to enter ‘millionaire‘ at the checkout. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

For this nail art I created the Nimbus Nail Art over a base of white using Barry M White using Sally Hansen Coral Reef, China Glaze Tart-y For The Party, Models Own Bubblegum and China Glaze Pink-ie Promise.

I added some gold triangle studs from The Nailasaurus Emporium right at the base of the nimbus nails.

The textured glitter on my accent fingers is Barry M Countess from the new(ish) Royal Glitters collection.

It’s all topped off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top
