    White Marble Nail Art Tutorial

    Did you hear? Minimalism and marble are totally in right now and, let me tell you… I’ve been comfortably seated on that bandwagon for a while!

    I spent a while last year trying to figure out a way to create the marble effect on nails that was simple, didn’t require too many tools and wasn’t freehanding. Of course, marble is one of mother nature’s creations so I had in mind something that didn’t look too thought out; a little messy and unpredictable but with that certain understated elegance. Eventually I found this solution using nothing but a nail stamper, a smooth surface, and a toothpick.     yoomoo #guiltfreeze Polka Dot Nail Art


    After a week of voting on yoomoo’s Facebook and Instagram pages, the winner of the #guiltfreeze competition has been announced! It was a really close competition right to the end. All the entries were truly amazing and it was so hard for me and the ladies at yoomoo to narrow it down to just five. Hey, it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!

    With the most votes, @thepolishlist is the winner of £1000 in Thomas Cook vouchers to plan her perfect Ibiza holiday. Coming in a very close second was @rosietabor and as a special treat, yoomoo will also be sending her £500 in vouchers for her own summer holiday. Congratulations ladies!

    For my own latest yoomoo inspired nail art, I followed their polka dot tutorial which you can watch below. I used Barry M Rose Hip as my base colour and then Nails Inc. Udderly Shocking Pink and Nicole by OPI The Coral of the Story with dotting tools to complete the look.

    #guiltfreeze Colour Blocking + IBIZA!

    The latest yoomoo x Nails Inc #guiltfreeze nail art tutorial is for this colour blocked nail art. I couldn’t resist trying it out for myself but I picked out a slightly different colour combination which I think works really well for summer – a good mix of soft and bright colours. I love minimal designs and colour blocking is one way to get away with minimal effort nail art that gives some stunning results. All you need is a killer combination and you’re good to go. If you’re stuck for colour ideas, Adobe Kuler is an amazing resource that I sometimes use when I need a dose of colour inspiration. The shades I used here are China Glaze Fade Into Hue, China Glaze Mimosa’s before Mani’s and the yoomoo exclusive Nails Inc Udderly Shocking Pink. You’ll find the video tutorial below.

    Introducing #guiltfreeze with yoomoo x Nails Inc.

    This summer, yoomoo have teamed up with Nails Inc. to bring us #guiltfreeze, a nail art competition with prizes up for grabs every week. Nails Inc. are bringing the nail art and yoomoo will be providing the mouthwatering snacks!     The first tutorial in the series is Water Marbling so that’s what I’m trying my hand at today. In the past I haven’t had the best luck with marbling – it’s definitely one that comes with practice but I truly nailed today’s attempt. I got both nails done on the first attempt and managed not to ruin them before they were dry. Success!

    For my take on Nails Inc.’s water marble, I used Barry M White as my base colour and created the marble using Barry M White, Different Dimension Lucky and Nails Inc. Udderly Shocking Pink.     I also used Revlon Minted with some circle decals from Born Pretty Store (#123).
    It’s all topped off with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    China Glaze Fade Into Hue with Nail Art
    I started this manicure with absolutely no idea where it was going. It’s one of those that just developed as I went along, all the while facing the very real risk of going completely overboard with colours, details and stick-ons but this one stayed on course and I really like the simple result. I just started with a general idea that I wanted to do something geometric and went from there. I’ve confessed before that my geometric nail art is not really A-game standard but it’s a style that I’m determined to practice and perfect this year!

    1. I started with a base of China Glaze Fade Into Hue.
    2. Next, I used a striping brush to paint on the cobalt blue sections in Nails Inc All Saints Row.
    3. Using the same brush, I carefully went over the line with Models Own Bubblegum.
    4. I felt like it was missing something so I dug through all of my studs before deciding on some 1.5mm white studs which I attached using a drop of clear nail polish.
    5. Finally, I topped it all off with Color Club Top Coat.

    DIY Nails Christmas Water Decals Nail Art

    It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here. I finished most of my wrapping today but there are still a few gifts I’m waiting for in the post (can you say last minute?!) so I have my fingers crossed that they’re going to get here before Wednesday! These cute Christmas water decals are from DIY Nails and they’re a new contender for my Christmas Day mani. The Fair Isle pattern on this sheet is just too cute to ignore.

    I applied the DIY Nails Christmas water decals over the base of Barry M White.
    For the glitter nails, I applied two coats of Cirque Helios over one coat of Nails Inc Hampstead Gardens.
    It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

    Dainty Doilies

    After more than a year of talking about it, pondering and hesitating, I finally took the leap and a bought a new camera. I’ve had my old Olympus E-510 for close to 5 years now and I felt it was time for a little upgrade. In the end I went for the Canon 60D. It arrived yesterday and I’ve spent every waking hour since trying to figure it out! This is my first post using pictures from that camera so let me know if they look any different.
    Recently I was looking through all the piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013 entries and two in particular caught my eye. I just loved Lucy’s Stash and XOXO Alexis Leigh‘s Blog Fest manicures and this creation is a sort of mash-up of the two. I took the idea of painting from the corner from Alexis and a lot of the patterns were inspired by Lucie! I like the subtle colours but I also think it would look amazing in a combination of brights.

    1. For the base I used one coat of Barry M Lychee (creme nude) followed by two coats of Nails Inc Elizabeth Street (shimmery nude).
    2. I freehanded on the designs with a nail art brush using NYC Mint Macaroon, Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue and Barry M Prickly Pear.
    3. When everything was dry I finished it off with two coats of No7 Stay Perfect Top Coat.
