    My Name Necklace

I’ve been wanting a personalised necklace for the longest time. I remember having a ‘Samantha’ necklace when I was in my teens which quickly turned green on the underside but I kept wearing it until I eventually lost it – which was probably for the best! I have a bit of a history of falling in love with necklaces. You may remember my T-Rex necklace from Slashpile designs which I posted about back in February and am still head over heels in love with but now there’s a new kid on the block – my ‘Sammersaurus’ necklace!

This necklace comes from a company called My Name Necklace who offer a huge range of customised jewellery including some Tatty Devine style pieces (at a fraction of the price!). This particular design is the sterling silver ‘Carrie’ style name necklace and I decided to get my online moniker, Sammersaurus, instead of something a bit more traditional like my real name! Once again, I’m in love. I also want to mention how amazing the delivery time was. I was told to expect a wait of 2-3 weeks which is more than reasonable because of course items are made to order but my order arrived in just over 7 days.

If you want your own personalised piece (or maybe you want to drop some heavy hints at someone else before Christmas comes around!), My Name Necklace have been kind enough to offer a code for 10% off any purchases. Just enter NAIL at the checkout!

For the nail art, I used No7 Just Black as my base colour. On my pointer I added two coats of NYC Smokey Top Coat and then added some 1.5mm Silver Studs from The Nailasaurus Emporium near my cuticles.
For the finishing touch, I monogrammed my ring finger using a nail art brush and Barry M Silver Foil.
It’s all topped off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

    31DC2013 Day 6: Violet Nails

For Day 6, the last day of the plain colour prompts I wanted to do something simple so I decided on something I’ve never done before… an ombré manicure! I’ve attempted ombré before but I never seem to gather up the right combination of colours and it always ends up looking like a skittle mani. Today I used one of the ombré kits from The New Black so I already had the perfect graduation of colours set out for me. Easy peasy!

For this manicure I used the Haze Ombré set from The New Black. I switched out the darkest colour in the set for Sally Hansen Plum Luck (on my thumb) because the one included is a shimmer and I wanted to keep the finish the same on each finger.
Once the colours were dry, I added a top coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly and used a toothpick to place and push some 1.5mm Silver Studs down in to the polish.

    31DC2013 Day 4: Green Nails

My green polish for day 4 of the challenge is NYC’s Blue Sky. I spotted this shade when I was in Superdrug recently to pick up my second bottle of NYC Raindrop which is my favourite polish that I’ve purchased all year!
Blue Sky is a weird name for a green polish huh? I actually began to question my eyesight when I saw the name, but this polish is definitely green! I would describe it as a very vibrant mint green as there is definitely a pastel tone about it but it’s bright at the same time.
I couldn’t resist adding the pastel galaxy nail accent! I’m still completely obsessed with this nail art and slide it in to my manicures every chance I get!

My base colour is NYC Blue Sky and I added some 2mm pastel blue studs from Born Pretty Store. I created the galaxy nail with NYC Raindrop, NYC Lavender Cupcake, NYC Lexington Yellow, a coat of Calvin Klein Blue Wants to Be a Millionaire and white acrylic paint for the details.
It’s all finished off with a coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.

Nail Lacquer UK Sticks and Stones Blue

Not too long ago, AJ from Nail Lacquer UK got in touch to see if I’d be interested in trying out a few of her polishes and I of course jumped at the chance to review some Indies from a UK based maker. There are so many amazing glitters in her store that it took me a while to decide on just a few but I asked if I could try Sticks and Stones Blue and Dog Days. I’m so happy to see a UK indie maker with such an amazing selection. The best part is that I can buy up as many bottles as I want without insane shipping or import costs!
Another sweet little detail I want to mention is that each polish comes with a little handmade charm themed to suit the polish. You can either keep these round the bottle or clip them on to a charm bracelet (or anywhere else you want to wear them) with the lobster clasp. I’m currently rocking on one my purse! How’s that for a loving touch?
Today I have a swatch of Sticks and Stones Blue to share. This polish is a classic black and white, bar and hex glitter with some lavender and blue additions with extra squares. There’s a really good amount of glitter in the bottle – I only had to use one coat for this swatch. I’m really impressed with this polish and I really can’t wait to try Dog Days too. Nail Lacquer UK polishes can be purchased in AJ’s Etsy store. Mini bottles are £3.50 and the full sizes range from £5.50-£7.50.

My base colour is NYC Raindrop and I used one coat of Nail Lacquer UK Sticks and Stones Blue.
For the accent nails I use striping tape to mark off some racing stripes, then painted Barry M Matt White straight down the middle and NYC Lavender Cupcake at the sides. I added a pastel purple stud from Born Pretty Store.

It’s all topped off with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.

    Cirque Helios with Pastels

I have another Cirque polish to show you today! Here we have Helios… a very fine gold glitter with holographic glitter sprinkled in. I decided to dress it up with some pastel colours. When pairing up gold with another colour, I normally go straight to black but I’m wayyy happier with the pastels this time.

For the glitter fingers, I used one coat of Barry M Gold Foil with 3 thin coats of Cirque Helios. You could wear Helios on its own with 3 coats but you’d have nail poking through the glitter so I chose to put a similar shade base colour underneath.
The pastels I used are Sally Hansen Green Tea and Barry M Prickly Pear.

It’s all topped off with a coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly and one of Essence Top Sealer. I added some 1.5mm gold studs on top while the Essence polish was still wet.

Visit cirquecolors.com for stockists or to buy directly.

    Pastel Waterfall

Before Google Reader closed down I imported all my subscriptions in to Bloglovin’ and yesterday I finally got round to sitting down and looking through every single blog I’ve followed over the last three years. I lost track of time but I know it took at least 2 hours! I must have unfollowed hundreds of blogs – just the ones that haven’t posted for 2 months or longer, some hadn’t even posted since 2011 – and I got a bit nostalgic whenever I came across a blog that I once loved but is now retired. I even shed a tear when I read Gilded Nails’ last post and it made me realise how lucky I am that I’ve been able to continue blogging all this time.
Anyway, enough of the soppy stuff! The point is that I’m so glad to have an organised dash where I can now start to really keep up with my favourite blogs and hopefully plenty of new ones!
I’m still loving pastels and I find myself reaching for them constantly. There is a waterfall in here somewhere but I used pastel colours and the look is very subtle!

My base colours are NYC Raindrop and Lavender Cupcake. For the waterfall design, I used Sally Hansen Green Tea, Models Own Utopia, Barry M Lychee, Essie Bikini So Teeny and the two base colours (tutorial here). The green studs are from Born Pretty Store and you can now get them in a wheel with a range of colours and square ones in the mix too. It’s all finished off with No7 Stay Perfect Top Coat.
