Stud Up! Day 5: Studded Jeans

This base colour is one from Gosh that I picked up on one of the stands that have been cropping up in Superdug stores this week. They’re stacked with discontinued Gosh products and most are half price or less. So far I’ve seen three of these stands and been lucky enough to find two bottles of the elusive Gosh Holographic which I’m just going to hoard for the time being!
I used Gosh Pool Party as base colour and let it dry completely. I used a paintbrush to dot on some clear polish where I wanted to place the studs then used the Mash Tweezers to place them on.
The studs are from Born Pretty here.

    Stud Up! Day 4: Pink(Stud)Wednesday

The base colour I used today is a franken that I made absolutely ages ago after I saw an OPI polish that was pink with a golden shimmer. The golden shimmer in mine is now looking like flakies and I like it!
Since last week’s framed nails post, I’ve been informed that the outline idea comes from Madeleine Pool. Doing it with studs reminds me of one of those vanity mirrors with light bulbs around the edge. Or those old movie theatre signs.
The base colour is a franken which needed two coats. I let that dry and cleaned up around my cuticles with a small paintbrush and acetone. Then I added a clear top coat and placed on the studs using a toothpick dipped in clear polish to make the end sticky. Finally I added a top coat of NYC In A New York Minute.

Stud Up! Day 3: Cutting Corners

I’m loving these studs from Born Pretty (product page). They sit quite flat on the nail unlike bullion which sticks out quite a bit.
I’m a picker so these are ideal for me because I’m not niggling at them all day, desperate to scrape them off like I am with bullion and basically anything else I stick on my nails. It doesn’t normally take that impulse more than a few hours to completely overwhelm my brain so that I have to cave in and pick away at them until they’re all off haha! I’m sure a lot of you know what I’m talking about!
I’m not sure about this design – I probably wouldn’t wear it again to be honest but I’m glad I tried it. Maybe there’s just a bit too much going on for my taste or it didn’t turn out quite how I imagined it in my head. Either way, I think it’s worthy of a spot in stud week!
I used Rimmel Blue Vogue as a base colour. I painted one coat on each nail and painted on the second coat of colour one nail at a time, sticking on the studs while the second coat was still tacky. I used Barry M Gold Foil on a striping brush to draw the cornery line things!

Stud Up! Day 2: Cut Me Up

I did this mani three times before I was happy with it today! It started with the vertical line idea but that was boring and too similar to yesterday. Second time round I added some stripes but that wasn’t working for me so I decided on a split colour which works quite nicely.
I used No7 Stand Back as the base colour. Using a striper brush, I painted on Cult Nails Time Traveler on one side of each nail. Then while those were still tacky, I added on the studs using a toothpick dipped in clear polish to make it tacky.

Stud Up! Day 1: Just The Tips

Roll up, roll up and welcome to my third theme week, STUD UP! The theme this time around is, as you may have guessed by now, ‘Studs’. I just can’t get enough of the things recently.
My personal style is moving through a rock chick phase which means everything I wear is dark and adorned with skulls, studs and crosses so you can expect the same kind of thing from my manicures this week. I say ‘week’ but it may be a little longer if I have to miss a day for whatever reason, but there will be 7 designs total.
I got these studs in the mail this week from Born Pretty Store and as soon as I opened the packet, a flurry of ideas shot through my head and I knew I had to commit a week of nails to them. The only other ‘stud like’ material I have is bullion but I promise I won’t make it too repetitive for you guys!
I used A-England Lancelot as a base (my go-to red-black) and 1.5mm studs from Born Pretty Store. Finished off with a coat of NYC In A New York Minute.
