    Happy Halloween! Skittlette Nail Art

Just a quick post to show you my official Halloween nails for this year. It was impossible choosing just one design from the 18 halloween nail art looks I showed you last weekend so I went wild with it and picked my favourites.

These nails have held up since Wednesday night which is possibly a record for me. I had to do them a while ahead of the holiday as it’s been a busy few days and I knew I wouldn’t get a chance otherwise. My index finger is chipped very slightly on the corner but fingers crossed everything will stay put until the evening’s up! Read more

31DC2015: Black and White Nails with a Skittle

I literally can’t remember the last time I did a skittle mani (a different design on every finger). I went through my skittle-mania phase in 2012 so it was likely all the way back then. I am particularly fond of this one as it has a few of my signature styles in – we have a spot of stamping (which is how this blog got started), my waterfall design and the classic gradient (the tutorial for which remains, to this day, my most popular post). So alongside being a rather breathtaking monochrome mani, it’s a quick trip down memory lane too!

    The Nails

    Base Colour Barry M Coconut
Thumb MoYou Back to the 80s Plate 03 stamped with W7 Black
First Finger Waterfall design with W7 Black & Silver, Sally Hansen Dorian Grey & Black Platinum, Barry M White
Middle Finger Chevrons with W7 Black using Whats Up Nails Skinny Zig Zags
Ring Finger Gradient with Barry M Coconut, Sally Hansen Dorian Grey and W7 Black
Pinky Finger Dotting with W7 Black

    Polish Days: Geometry

It’s September Polish Day and the theme for this month, in honour of back to school time, is Geometry. Yesterday you got some science and today you’re getting some maths! Well it’s not really maths since I decided on a Tetris theme cuz if I was a teacher, I’d be the cool teacher. Tetris shapes are geometrical right? Right!
I had an idea for a freehand Tetris mani but the perfectionist in me was crying at the potential failure rate of attempting to draw tiny squares on my nails. Then I remembered these square studs and went for a typically minimalist approach.

From thumb to pinky, the base colours are Collection 2000 Sherbet Lemon (on a base of Barry M White), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Green With Envy, GOSH Pool Party, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed and Julep Anne.
The studs are from Born Pretty Store and I applied them using this method.

    Blue Skittle Nail Art

Just another one of those ‘paint it and see’ manicures today! The base colour is GOSH Pool Party and I was originally going to do the accessorizing in black but I think the white/iridescent theme works better with the soft blue.
Just a quick update on the Nail Art Contest. I mentioned yesterday that there are some technical issues so voting will now open on July 8th and you have until then to load your entries. As promised, I will let you guys know as soon as voting opens and there will be a few more details to come at that date!

Index to pinky (all on a base of GOSH Pool Party)

Black and White Day 10: Your Choice

For the last day of the challenge we decided to recreate our favourite manicure that someone else had created during the challenge. So I had the near impossible task of picking from 42 manicures! In the end, I came to a compromise, I’d dedicate one finger on my hand to my favourite design from each of the other 5 ladies.

W7 Black as a base. Using scotch tape to mark of the triangle closest to my cuticle, I used BYS Flirty Sparkle. I gave up on scotch tape and freehanded the next triangle with Rimmel Daisy Chain.

A-England Galahad as a base. A-England St George for the first cloud and W7 Black for the second.

Pointer Finger, Sincerely Stephanie: Day 2

Base coat of Barry M White. W7 Black with a striping brush for the center parting. Then I switched to a dotting tool using the same two colours.

Barry M White as my base colour. First I used a large dotting tool and W7 Black, then a slightly smaller dotting tool with Barry M White to dot in the centres.

Finally, I finished off each nail with two coats of NYC In A New York Minute.
