Assassin’s Creed Nail Art

Assassin's Creed Nail Art | The Nailasaurus | UK Nail Art Blog

I’ve been playing my way through the Assassin’s Creed series since some time last year although I skipped over the first two and started at Brotherhood. Recently, I’ve been spending nearly every Friday night under a blanket playing Black Flag in the dark. Oh what a glamorous life I lead! I’m enjoying playing as Edward but I think that’s only because he’s from Swansea (which is about an hour down the road from me) but Ezio is my favourite of the Assassin’s I’ve played as.

For the nails, I used Barry M Almond as my base colour. I painted on the ‘hood’s using the Sweet Colour Black Liner from Born Pretty Store.

To create the logo, I painted it straight on to a sheet of plastic using acrylic paint. This gave me the chance to correct any mistakes by scraping away small details that I got wrong. When I was happy with it, I painted two thin layers of top coat over it. Once it was thoroughly dry, I peeled it away from the plastic and trimmed as close to the paint as I could to make a kind of DIY decal. The results aren’t ideal – you can kind of see the outline and there are a few air bubbles – but I think it saved me a lot of time and trouble in the long run!

It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

I want to dedicate today’s post to Shelley, the eldest of our two dogs who unfortunately passed away last night. She fell ill in the morning and her condition worsened throughout the day until she just slipped away so it was quite sudden and unexpected. She lived to the ripe old age of 12 which isn’t bad at all for a dog that was always falling down rabbit holes and gobbling up any old junk she found on the floor! Maybe I’m biased but she’s definitely the prettiest dog I’ve ever seen and she was just the softest dog in the world. Just don’t ask what breed(s) she was because we never knew… we’re still guessing!

Shelley always wore a red collar with little bone shaped studs and I remembered One Nail to Rule Them All’s bone design which I thought would be a perfect match after I switched up the colours. The other fingers match her markings – black patches and speckly spots.

I used Rimmel Heart on Fire and Barry M White for my base colours. The bones were drawn on with Barry M’s Nail Art Pen in Silver and I freehanded on the ‘markings’ using the Sweet Color Liner in Black. It’s topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Pastel Geometric Nail Art | The Nailasaurus | UK Nail Art Blog

I was jonesing for a pastel mani today but I didn’t want to get too girly with it. As the title suggests, I went for something nice and sweet but equally naughty at the same time. I remembered this Hex nail charm and knew it would be perfect to add a touch of ~~class~~ badass to my nails.

The base colour for the nail charm is Barry M Heather and the Fuck You charm is from Hex Nail Jewelry.

For the negative space cross on my ring finger, I used Striping Tape to mark off the cross on my bare nail, then painted over it with Maybelline Ceramic Blue.

The colour block nails are a base of Delush Make Me Blush. I applied a thin coat of HK Girl and waited ten minutes for it to dry. Next I placed a strip of scotch tape over the top portion of my nail and painted over it with Sally Hansen Green Tea. Finally for those nails, I added a thin white line using the White Liner Polish from Born Pretty Store.

The pink glitter is Sally Hansen Razzle Dazzler.

It’s all topped off with two coats of HK Girl.

Game of Girly Thrones

It feels like we’ve been waiting an age for Game of Thrones to come back and now it’s so close I can almost taste it! A thoughtful friend got me these House Sigil water decals from Tentacle Studios on Etsy for my birthday last week and I don’t think there will ever be a more perfect time to wear them. I did try to match the colours up to the real thing but because the decals are all black, it was kind of tricky so instead, I turned the whole thing topsy-turvy and went for a girly skittle colour scheme.

My base colours are Barry M Dragon Fruit (which, in hindsight, would have been the perfect colour for the Targaryen Sigil!), China Glaze Tart-y For The Party, NYC Raindrop, Sally Hansen Green Tea and NYC Lexington Yellow.

The decals are from Tentacle Studios on Etsy.

I finished it with a top coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl and then a coat of Rimmel Matte Finish.

Happy Saint David’s Day!

I have never been able to decide whether I’m English or Welsh as my family is English and I was born in England but I’ve lived my whole life in Wales, albeit very close to the border. I tend to float between the two and with my generic British accent, I can pull them both off pretty convincingly! Since it’s Saint David’s Day today, the mood is decidedly Welsh and I’ve created some nail art for the occasion.

My first finger is the Welsh flag, or at least my simplified interpretation of it. I set down a base of Barry M White and freehanded on the Welsh Dragon using Rimmel Heart on Fire. I added the green in last using Sally Hansen Grass Slipper.

On my ring finger, I’ve painted a Daffodil – the national flower of Wales. I used Barry M Mist as my base colour and freehanded on the flower using a nail art brush with NYC Lexington Yellow and Sally Hansen Sun Kissed.

For the remaining fingers, I used Rimmel Heart on Fire, Barry M White and Sally Hansen Grass Slipper.

It’s all topped off with a coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

LFW Inspired Nail Art: Louise Alsop

Louise Alsop is a designer that’s pretty new to the scene and she had a slot at London Fashion Week in the Fashion East show. A few of her designs caught my eye as being perfect for a nail art adaptation. I really loved the effect of the grungy black and white, geometric patterns contrasted with the floaty mint green pieces.

I used Barry M Meadow for the glimmery mint and set down Barry M White as the base for the nail art.

To create the tiled effect, I placed striping tape where I wanted the white lines to show through.

Using a nail art brush, I mixed Barry M White, Rimmel Grey Matter and W7 Black in varying quantities to create all the different shades of grey one shade at a time. I then used the nail art brush to paint each shade on to my nails, staying in the lines!

As soon as I was done, I peeled off the tape to reveal the perfectly crisp lines underneath.

It’s all finished with two coats of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

Misty Waterfall

So far, my effort to read more this year is going really well. I’m a pretty slow reader but I’m making good progress! Since I got my Kobo in January, I’ve already read the first two Divergent books and I’m currently reading The Fault In Our Stars. I’ll pick up on the third in the Divergent series after this one which I’m pretty sure I’ll finish before the end of the week because I only started reading it on the weekend and it’s been keeping me up until the early hours of the morning every day since. I think I’ll turn in early tonight so I can squeeze in an extra hour of reading time!

For this nail art, I started with a base of Barry M Mist.

I created the Waterfall using Barry M White, Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue, Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue and Sally Hansen Lively Lilac.

The glitter is Angelica Bobby Dazzler (also available in Primark stores!).

It’s all finished of with a top coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.
