While I Was Gone: 4 Gradients

Gradient Nail Art by The Nailasaurus

Please let me be the first to call myself out on the lack of blog posts coming from this direction over the last month or so. There is no big reason for my extended absence; for one reason or another I just haven’t been feeling it for a while.

I’m still thinking about blogging every single day, multiple times a day… okay basically just all the time. It’s in my bones now and I can’t escape it. The ideas keep on coming but I’m lagging a little on the execution side of things. I’m sure some of you know exactly where I’m coming from with this. Please tell me I’m not alone!

I’ve obviously been keeping myself busy with nail art and snapping pics the whole time though. We all know how much I love a gradient and what’s better than one gradient? Lots of them! I did neglect notekeeping duties on occasion but all the info under the images is correct to the best of my knowledge!

Video: Gradient Nail Art Stamping Tutorial

Gradient Stamping Tutorial | The Nailasaurus

In between running a mountain of errands and hanging out with my dog this weekend, I managed to squeeze in a video tutorial. I’ve been putting it off for a while (like 3 months, a while) but suddenly had a surge of determination to just get it done. I wish my brain worked this way all the time. And while I’m making wishes, if the weekend could be twice as long that would be nice too! Read more

Models Own Colour Chrome Collection: Every Stamper’s Dream

    Models Own Colour Chrome Stamping

If you’re a seasoned stamper like me, you’ll know that nothing compares to chrome finish polishes when you want to get the job done. When I first heard about the new Colour Chrome collection of 10 polishes from Models Own I immediately got to wondering how they’d hold up when put to the test. So, naturally, when I got my hands on a select few of them I went straight to work trying them out with some different designs.

As you can see, they don’t disappoint in the stamping department. I stamped them over Cirque Memento Mori which is a flawless deep black and they held up without any issues (the designs are from MoYou Fashionista Plate 05). They’re all very opaque which makes them ideal for the job. The consistency is quite creamy and easy to work with but I think that once they’ve aged and thickened up a little, they’ll be even better.

If you’re in the UK and are into your stamping, or even just a beginner, I’d seriously recommend investing in a few of these as I collections like this never seem to be around for long. I’m going to snap up Blue and Gold as soon as they’re in stores.

    Models Own Colour Chrome Collection

As for wearing them alone, it’s advised you ditch the base coat and top coat and just apply 2-3 coats of the chromes over freshly buffed nails. I was curious, so I tried both anyway! Base coat is a no-no as it gets dragged around by the chrome and makes little unsightly lumps underneath. Top coat is a-okay as long as you wait until the colour chrome is completely dry first.

This swatch is two coats of each with no base or top coat. From thumb to pinky, the shades are Rose, Cerise, Olive, Mauve and Indigo. You do have to use a very light hand and use as few storkes as possible to get a decent finish. Each shade has its own level of streakiness and they cling to any ridges or imperfections on your nails which is, I suppose, why it’s recommended you buff before application (I skipped that step, oops!). I’ve never been a fan of the all-over chrome look and I think I’ll only use these for stamping but I could be converted by Mauve and Mauve alone!

    Where to Buy

The full collection of 10 Colour Chrome Shades will retails at £4.99 each. They’ll be available at modelsownit.com from 29th January, from UK Models Own bottleshops on the 31st January and Superdrug stores nationwide on the 11th February.

Wrapping Paper Nails, Christmas Gifts on eBay and a Giveaway

Wrapping Paper Nails, Christmas Gifts on eBay and a Giveaway

I really can’t believe Christmas is less than one week away. I feel like we were still in November last the weekend! I still have a few things on my to-do list so I’m hoping I can fit them in before the big day. I have a few days off just before the 25th so it’s going to be the usual mad dash to the finish line! This year has been another dry one for me when it comes to Christmas nail art and even when I do create some, it’s just ‘barely there’ Christmas! Today I’ve gone for a Christmas paper look. All classy, like!

    My Inspiration

Believe it or not, I don’t get gifted a lot of nail themed items at Christmas. I’m very fortunate to have more nail polish than I’ll ever need and I think my friends and family have realised this! I have a theory that they don’t bother getting me nail stuffs in case I already have it in my stash (which, let’s face it, I probably do). However, it got me thinking – what would be the perfect gift for a nail lover who (seemingly) has everything?

If you’re scrambling for some last minute gifts ideas, I’ve put together a collection on eBay, Gifts for the Nailista, with some ideas you might like. Most are somewhat out of the ordinary and I threw in a few of the usual suspects too! My personal favourites are a Year’s Supply of Top Coat (you really can’t go wrong with this one) and the one that’s at the top of my own wishlist this year, the Gelish starter kit!

Click here here to see the rest of the collection and read on to find out how you can win a £20 eBay voucher!

    Nail Art

To wrap my nails all up in paper, I used Barry M Coconut and NYC Flat Iron Green as my base colours. Flat Iron Green has turned so dark under the stamping and top coats that it just looks like a straight up black now but I think it’s quite a nice contrast to have the black vs. white.

For the stamping, I used the baroque patterns from MoYou Fashionista 08 with Barry M Gold Foil over the white. Then stamped the snowflakes from Bundle Monster Plate BM223 with A-England Excalibur Renaissance over the black.

It’s all topped with one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl, then one of NYC Matte Me Crazy to finish off the look.

    Nailvengers Assemble! Christmas Nail Art

    Christmas Nail Art

The Nailvengers are getting in to the festive spirit today as we tick over in to December and Christmas Mania can officially begin. I made a start on my Christmas shopping this weekend and let’s just say I’ll be doing as much as possible online from now on. Carrying giant shopping bags whilst trying to navigate through hoards of people also carrying their own hauls doesn’t make for a fun Sunday and it even resulted in a few bruises!

For this nail art I used Delush Glam Squad, the perfect festive red then added a few gold accent nails with Sally Hansen Coat of Arms and L’Oreal Platinum Chic.

For the details, I stamped on some designs from MoYou Festive Collection Stamping Plate 06 using BK Matte White.

It’s all topped with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    eBay Autumn Collection Inspiration

    My Inspiration

Winter is coming so it’s officially acceptable to crack out the chunky knit jumpers and your sparkliest nail polish. While I’m not a big fan of the chill or inevitable British rain, I’ve always been a night owl so I do really love when the dark nights start closing in. I’m more than happy to spend the evenings snuggled up under my favourite fluffy blanket with a hot chocolate and my Kobo or couple episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.

I’ve been pretty much inseparable from my thermal cup recently (although less because I need the thermal properties, more because I’m a huge klutz and the sippy cup is essential!) and I’ve teamed up with eBay to create a collection around this image. If you follow me elsewhere, you may have already spotted the inspiration pic. It looks so cozy and warm so I thought it would be perfect for some autumn inspiration.

My new collection features some of my Autumn Essentials when it comes to nail art and I’m still adding to it. Let me know if you think I’ve missed anything!

    The Nail Art

For this nail art, I used Barry M Coconut as my base colour. I stamped on the design using the most perfect winter stamping plate, MoYou Festive 06, with Sally Hansen So-nata Problem and Rimmel Rock N Roll. In order to get the two colours on one stamp, I had to carefully paint the design on the plate first and scrape very carefully to leave the colours where I wanted them. It’s all topped with one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
