Better late than never! I’m here at the finish line of the 31 Day Challenge and amazingly only a few days late. For the very final day of the challenge (oh god, it feels so good to say that!), I have to Honour Nails I ♥ so I’ve selected a design by one of my favourite nail artists – Paulina’s Passions. Paulina was actually inspired by Very Emily – another one of my favourite nail ladies so this mani has given me the chance to pay tribute to two talented artists that I admire!
As you may know, I’m in the running for the Best Established Beauty Blog award at the Cosmo Blog Awards and the ceremony is tomorrow. I’ve had a busy evening spent packing and I’ve managed to get everything I need in to a reasonably sized duffle bag so I’m feeling like a packing pro right now! This is the third year I’ve been nominated but only the second time I’ll be going to the ceremony. Last year was amazing fun and I’m sure this year will be another night to remember. For this nail art, I put down my base colours: Barry M White, Essie Go Ginza and Barry M Majesty.
For the patterned nails, I used striping tape to mark off where I wanted the white to show through. I created a textured saran wrap pattern over the top using Nicole by OPI LeaPink for Joy, Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue and Essie Go Ginza and removed the striping tape immediately. It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
So you saw my review of DIY Nails decals a few days ago and here’s some nail art with them! As soon as I saw these decals, I knew I wanted to go for a rustic look. I’ve been hooked on anything mildly piratey since I played Assassin’s Creed Black Flag! I tried to mimic the paper that you always see treasure maps on in the movies. Anyone remember in school whenever you had to do a history project – you’d stain the paper with a tea bag and burn the edges (under the close supervision of an adult, of course) to make it look old? That’s the look I was going for!
I used a few neutral Barry M polishes with the Textured Saran Wrap technique for a very subtle mottled effect. I would have mixed a bit of darker brown in there too but I wanted to keep the canvas nice and light so the decals would stand out. How cute is the purrrrppy?! He looks like a real sweetheart but you know he’s got your back if you find yourself in a tavern brawl after too much rum!

Let me introduce you to the new look Nailasaurus! I’ve been itching to get a new design on this blog for a while now and after a few weeks spent looking around, I finally settled on a new template. Things aren’t too different so you shouldn’t have trouble finding anything, but I might continue fine tuning it until I’m really happy with the way it looks and the way it’s used. It looks amazing on mobile devices too so don’t forget to check it out on -the-go when you get a chance.
The biggest change you’ll notice is the way you comment on my posts. I’ve installed the Disqus system which you’ve probably seen around on other blogs. I think it’s much better than the old Blogger system for drumming up good conversation and it looks a lot prettier! You can sign in using your Facebook, Twitter, Google or Disqus account and it’s really easy to track your conversations and replies.
The nail art I created today is one of my favouite manis for a while. The pastel purple textured saran wrap is really dainty but the crosses give it a bit of an edge.
I started by painting all my nails white and top coating with HK Girl. I marked off the crosses using striping tape and applied the texture over the top using the ‘textured saran wrap’ method (video at the end of this post).

Every year, I get sucked in to the July 4th mani mania and end up creating one myself even though I’m not in the US and won’t be celebrating myself!
For the nail art, I used Rimmel Raw as Night, Graffiti Nails Ice White and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue as my base colours.
On my first and middle fingers, I did some glitter placement with Glequins from Born Pretty Store (#3 and #11). There are my stars!
For the stripes, I laid down some striping tape so the white would shine through and then blotted on the red using the textured saran wrap technique. The texture is made from mostly Barry M Burgundy Crush and Rimmel Raw as Night with a tiny bit of Nicole by OPI The Coral of the Story and Graffiti Nails Ice White.
It’s all topped with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

Marbled effect created using saran wrap
I’ve been binging on Orange is the New Black this weekend (thank you, Netflix!) so today’s nail art had to be Orange! I did the marble effect using cling film and it’s my most successful attempt yet. In the past, my attempts have been a little too marbled but the detail is nice and clear this time around.
The colours I used are Sally Hansen Tahitian Sunset, piCture pOlish Totes, NYC Rooftop Party Berry and Nicole by OPI Yoga-Then-Yogurt.
The details are all DIY Nails water decals. The Drippy Letters are from Creepy and the Parental Advisory stamp is from Love/Hate.
