    31 Day Challenge: Green

Sally Hansen Green Tea Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Does anyone remember my last post that fetured this amazing mint green from Sally Hansen? In ‘The Trouble With Bargains‘ I got all emosh because the bottle was running low and I couldn’t find a new one anywhere. You guys came to the rescue and found it listed on eBay and I snapped it up right away! A big, huge thank you to everyone that took time out of their day to find my beloved Green Tea!
I’m changing course today without a single sighting of glitter or matte. There’s even a little bit of nail art in here! Admittedly, I was going to go with a green jelly sandwich but then I remembered how amazing pastel purple goes with mint green and came up with this simple solution to wear the two together.

    Gradient Mermaid Nail Art

Gradient Mermaid Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

I’ve always been a strong believer in ‘less is more’ but sometimes you just gotta go for it. This mani has a little bit of everything – gradient, stamping and embellishments – but boy oh boy, does it work!

For the gradient, I used The Lacquer Labe Ultra Violet as my base colour and created the gradient with Sally Hansen Back to the Fuschia. There’s a gradient video tutorial here.

I topped the gradient with Cirque Liquid Laminate and snapped a few pics (below) before I added the art.

I stamped on the fishnet / mermaid scales pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM209 using The Lacquer Lab Moonshine and used another coat of Liquid Laminate.

Finally, I added all the little gems using top coat and a wax pencil. The selection you see is 1mm Swarovski FlatbacksGold and Silver 3.5mm shells and 1mm Flat Back Pearls with a shell embellishment from She Sells Seashells (currently out of stock).

After I took these pictures, I added a layer of Liquid Laminate over the details and not a single thing fell off before I removed everything 24 hours later!

    The Trouble With Bargains

Gradient Stamping Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

The trouble with bargains is that it’s very unlikely you’ll ever find the same one again. It’s a truth that I refuse to accept despite continual proof that it’s one of the harsh realities of life. I found this mint Sally Hansen polish in Poundland and it is, hands down, the best mint nail polish I’ve ever owned. To this day, I still check the shelves every time I go in there, holding out hope that I’ll be able to buy a backup bottle as this one is nearly empty. I even check Fragrance Direct on the regular because I know they often get end of line Sally Hansens but if it has ever appeared on there, I missed my chance. I’ve had so many comments and emails asking me where to find it but the answer is, it seems, nowhere! I guess I’m just sad because I know this polish is coming to an end and it will be a hard one to replace. If anyone knows how that feels, it’ll be you guys!

Today’s nail art is something new to me – a gradient stamp. I’ve stamped over a gradient before but this time the stamping is the gradient. It took me a few goes to master getting a smooth gradient and even more to get the designs straight on my nails but I made it in the end!

I know tribal pattern nails are really popular but insanely hard to perfect so I thought this plate was worth a special mention as it’s covered in ready made tribal nail art. There are a few more in the Explorer Collection that have similarly awesome tribal designs so definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for some easy tribal nails. If you’ve never purchased from them before, you can get 20% off your first order with the MoYou discount code, SAMMY20. Just make sure you’re signed in to your account or the code won’t work.

Pastel Goth Textured Saran Wrap Nail Art

Pastel Goth Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Let me introduce you to the new look Nailasaurus! I’ve been itching to get a new design on this blog for a while now and after a few weeks spent looking around, I finally settled on a new template. Things aren’t too different so you shouldn’t have trouble finding anything, but I might continue fine tuning it until I’m really happy with the way it looks and the way it’s used. It looks amazing on mobile devices too so don’t forget to check it out on -the-go when you get a chance.
The biggest change you’ll notice is the way you comment on my posts. I’ve installed the Disqus system which you’ve probably seen around on other blogs. I think it’s much better than the old Blogger system for drumming up good conversation and it looks a lot prettier! You can sign in using your Facebook, Twitter, Google or Disqus account and it’s really easy to track your conversations and replies.
The nail art I created today is one of my favouite manis for a while. The pastel purple textured saran wrap is really dainty but the crosses give it a bit of an edge.
I started by painting all my nails white and top coating with HK Girl. I marked off the crosses using striping tape and applied the texture over the top using the ‘textured saran wrap’ method (video at the end of this post).

    The Qualities of a Galaxy

    Pastel Galaxy Nail Art

Once again I’ve found myself drawn towards the bold pairing of turquoise and pink. When I saw Wondrously Polished’s pastel galaxy nails I knew I’d have to imitate – they were so awe inspiring and I just couldn’t stop staring! I like knowing in my heart that galaxy nails will never fail me. Whenever I feel a bit uninspired, wearing galaxy nails for a few days can rekindle my love for nail art and spark new ideas.
Lindsey wrote a great tutorial for this galaxy look over at The Hunt so I’d urge you to check that out if you’re looking for some pointers.
