Patchwork Nail Art with Barry M Coconut Infusions for Autumn/Winter 2016

    barry_m_coconut_autumn_2016

Now that we’re into November, I feel like it’s acceptable to start raving about Autumn/Winter everything. Starting with the latest additions to the Barry M Coconut Infusions range: the first AW collection that actually got me excited. When I laid my eyes upon it, I was immediately taken by the range of shades and just thought, ‘YES. Yes. THIS is a winter collection’. We’ve seen bolds a plenty and berry shades have started to leave a sour taste in my mouth. But a whole collection of muted tones (I’m conveniently ignoring the obligatory bold red) is something at least slightly less done. Read more

Harley Quinn x Suicide Squad Nail Art

Harley Quinn Suicide Squad Nail Art

2016 is going to be an epic year for comic book movie adaptations so I really have my work cut out for me. I realised today that I’ve never done Deadpool and the shame swept over me pretty fast.

I’m no stranger to a bit of Harley Quinn Nail Art but with her latest incarnation and updated look from Suicide Squad, I thought it was a good time to create an fresh nail art look to go along with it. It’s a nice mix of the old and the new with her ombre pigtails inspiring the gradient and the classic harlequin pattern throwing back to the old school. Read more

31DC2015: Red Nails with Barry M and Lynnderella

31DC2015 Red Nails with Barry M Gelly Red

It’s that time of year again when internet nail artists the world over have to decide between their spare time/social life/sleep and the 31 Day Challenge. Call me crazy, but this year I have once again opted for the latter! I was unsure for a while about joining the challenge this year but I eventually decided it would be plain weird not to. This will be my 5th consecutive year and it would be a real shame to break that streak so I’m going to try my hardest to stick with it right through to the end.

For the first few days I like to ease myself in with some plain(ish) manis as the prompts don’t call for much else. I took to Periscope on Monday (follow me @thesammersaurus) and asked everyone who was watching to help me choose which of my red polishes to use for Day 1’s ‘Red Nails‘. In the end, we settled on a classic red creme with a few glitter accents.

    The Nail Polish

I used 2 coats of Barry M Blood Orange/Red for my base and painted on  2 thin coats of Lynnderella Ruby Red Ruby for the accents.

Here are the cues coming up in the challenge. If you’re only just finding out about this, it’s not too late to join in! Just post when you can and catch up if you have a chance. You can also follow along on the #31DC2015 hashtag pretty much everywhere but most of the action will be on Instagram!

If you fancy scrolling through the archives of my previous challenge efforts, you’ll find them here: 31DC2011 | 31DC2012 | 31DC2013 | 31DC2014

Thanks to Sarah @ Chalkboard Nails for the beautifully designed graphics again this year!

While I Was Gone: 4 Gradients

Gradient Nail Art by The Nailasaurus

Please let me be the first to call myself out on the lack of blog posts coming from this direction over the last month or so. There is no big reason for my extended absence; for one reason or another I just haven’t been feeling it for a while.

I’m still thinking about blogging every single day, multiple times a day… okay basically just all the time. It’s in my bones now and I can’t escape it. The ideas keep on coming but I’m lagging a little on the execution side of things. I’m sure some of you know exactly where I’m coming from with this. Please tell me I’m not alone!

I’ve obviously been keeping myself busy with nail art and snapping pics the whole time though. We all know how much I love a gradient and what’s better than one gradient? Lots of them! I did neglect notekeeping duties on occasion but all the info under the images is correct to the best of my knowledge!

OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Collection Swatches

So you might have heard of this novel turned movie phenomenon, Fifty Shades of Grey? Even if you’re not a fan of E.L. James’ work, OPI have released a collection of shades for all the lacquer lovers out there to mark the release of the movie. I was very excited for this collection as I do love dark tones and I think grey is such a classy colour to mix in to any look. While I wasn’t blown away by the polishes here, one does stand out for me. Read on for my swatches and thoughts on the collection. Read more

The Classic Red: Rimmel Reds Comparison

    Rimmel Red Nail Polish Comparison

The classic red is a staple of any lacquer addict’s collection and I’ve never looked further than Rimmel for a pocket friendly red polish that wears for days. I first struck gold with Heart on Fire but the Lycra Pro range has since been phased out (or more likely rebranded as Salon Pro) and I had to find an alternative. Of course, the first place I looked was the Rimmel stand and I found Rock N Roll, a very worthy replacement. More recently, I also got my hands on Mars and Raw as Night from the Rita Ora 60 Seconds line. So, how do they stack up against each other… Read more
