    My Christmas Day Nails

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and indulged in plenty of good food and family time! This week between Christmas and New Year is always a bit of a funny one. We’re all trying to get back in to the swing of things but there are still bank holidays and plans to be made. I’m going back to work on the 2nd so I’m just making the most of my time until then – I’ve mostly just been chilling out and sleeping!

These are the nails I wore for Christmas day! I originally painted some with an icy blue theme but ditched them for something more festive in gold and red. Make sure you click to continue reading to see both looks!

For this mani, the base colours are Essie Jag-U-Are and Barry M Majesty – a textured gold glitter.
For the fair isle pattern, I used Winstonia Plate W120 and BK Matt White
I totally missed this plate before Christmas eve but it has to be one of the best Christmas stamping designs I own. Although I did have a nightmare transferring it on the stamper from the plate and then actually lining it up properly on my nail! I had to try 5 times before I got this one right!
I created the dots using a tiny dotting tool and Barry M White.
I topped off the red nails a coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

I really liked these nails but just thought the colour was too ‘winter’ and not enough Christmas.
I used Maybelline Ceramic Blue as my base colour. The accent is 2 coats of a holographic glitter from Claire’s.
The swirly stamping design is from MoYou Fairytale 02 Plate using Barry M Silver Foil

The deer decal on my index finger is from She Sells Seashells.

Again, it’s all topped with Glisten and Glow HK Girl

    Dreamy

Today I’m debuting the Bundle Monster fan plates here. I bought these a while ago, along with a second plate holder to house them all. The Bundle Monsters got overlooked because I’ve been so taken with the MoYou plates recently but I saw Nail Newbie using this stamp and just had to dig it out of the drawer!

I’m trying some new things with my photos so this a heads up that they may be a bit hit and miss for a while until I figure out how I like them! I haven’t changed too much, just the background and a few things in post-production but I think they’re already looking better. Constructive feedback is very much appreciated, I’d like to know how they look on your screens as I know they can vary!

The bluey lavender shade is Maybelline Ceramic Blue and I used H+M Jo Is In The House over the top for the glittery accent. The pink shade is Revlon Sweet Tart and I stamped over the top with Bundle Monster plate BM410 using BK Matt White.

I topped it all off with two coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

Sorry for the bad pictures recently. Everyday gets shorter and more dreary so it’s hard to get any good sun light for taking pictures. For this picture I resorted to using the light from my phone’s camera since all of the lightbulbs in my house give photos taken under them an orange tinge.
A comment from Mistress Zombie a few days ago has given me the idea to compile a list of regular polishes I use for stamping. Hopefully it might come in useful for you guys that are into stamping without using the expensive polishes.
I actually don’t own, nor ever have owned, any Konad special polishes myself and do all my stamping with regular polishes that I’ve found through trial, error and good guesswork. I’m aiming to get the list up some time soon – I just need some good lighting to get decent pictures of the bottles… how annoying.

Konad Colour: Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds – Atomic Red
BYS Flirty Sparkle for the dots applied with a brush

    Happy 4th of July…

.. to all of the readers in America!
I went to see Eclipse today. How good is it??!! I have read all the Twilight books and like them enough. I just haven’t really liked the films THAT much so far. But this one was definitely my favourite of the three.
It’s a good film on its own, without the ‘Twilight’ thing which is good.
I put it down to David Slade, the director. It was just so more original than the other two. And the flashback and dream sequences were communicated really well.
I just don’t understand this Twilight Mania. Well, maybe I do understand it, but I think it’s pretty silly myself. People sometimes take it a bit too far.

    Never Have I Ever…

… used EIGHT COATS to get a polish to look opaque on my nails!!
This is one of my new polishes from Martian Delights and it took at least 8 coats. Oh, and you can still see nail line 🙁
It’s a shame cuz it’s a really nice colour too. Hopefully it will thicken up, maybe in a year or two, haha.

    Plate: BM14
Base Colour: Maybelline Express Finish – 264 Ocean Blue
Stamp Colour: NYC Glossies – 243B
Cherry On Top: Rimmel Lasting Finish – 61 Exoctica
