    Quilted Nail Art Tutorial

Quilted Nail Art Tutorial by The Nailasaurus
I got my hands on Adobe Premiere over the weekend and spent the better part of Sunday getting to grips with it. I’ve been itching to get some more professional software for a while and there’s a lot for me to learn but I’m excited to start making videos (slightly) more regularly and actually having them turn out the way I envision them.

I learn best by jumping in so I went right ahead and filmed a quick tutorial for a quilted nail art look that I’ve seen floating about. This is only my second time trying the technique so I’m still learning too. I can spot a few bald patches where I went in too hard with the pin but you can learn from my mistakes! Make sure your polish is dry enough before you start making dents in it. I certainly will next time. Read more

    Top 5: Christmas Nail Colours

    1. Delush – Glam Squad

You’d normally catch me wearing the classic red creme at Christmas but this year I’ve been converted to this frosty metallic red by Delush. With three coats, the colour is so deep and luxe. This shade isn’t from a holiday collection but I feel like it was made for Christmas!

    2. piCure pOlish – LakoDom

I can’t get enough of this shade. White nail polish has been my go-to for plain nails these last couple of months and LakoDom immediately became a favourite from first wear! It’s a slightly grey tinted white with silver/holographic particles which makes me think of glistening snow.

    3. A-England – Saint George

I had to get a green in here somewhere but the traditional forest-y christmas tones have never been a favourite of mine. Saint George is a holographic teal polish that’s been with me for a very long time and I’ve just rediscovered it this month. I think it’s the least typically festive shade of the selection but it’s the only green I’ll be sporting this season!

    4. Sally Hansen – Coat of Arms

This metallic polish is somewhere between gold and silver; a cool gold, if you will, and very majestic as implied by the name! The finish on this one is lovely – perfect in two coats with little (if any) streaking which is rare for foil polishes.

    5. L’Oreal – Platinum Chic

What’s a Christmas mani without a bit of sparkle? Well, this polish has more than a bit of sparkle; it’s literally a bottle packed full of glitter. There are silver hexes in two sizes mixed in with irridescent gold micro glitter. For the swatch above, I used 3 coats for full coverage but you can also layer it over another polish for an equally stunning effect.

    I Just Blue Myself

I’ve been very very indecisive when it comes to my nails lately. I can never settle on a colour or design and sometimes I start a manicure then remove it before it’s even finished! We all go through these phases right? Last night I just picked a few colours and decided to go with the flow, do whatever came to my head and be happy with the results.
I’ve seen a lot of these chevrons around lately which I why I think it popped in to my head. Once it was done I decided that I did like this look but my satisfaction didn’t last long and this morning I replaced it with a mint and pink concoction which I really love!

I used Barry M Blue Grape as my base colour and then used a nail art brush to paint on the triangles using L’Oreal Laquiresist 837, a super vintage polish. The contrast between the two colours wasn’t as obvious as I’d hoped so I used Born Pretty Fluorescent Polish #15 to paint on a border. I finished it all off with a coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

    L’Oreal Confetti Top Coat Swatch

L’Oreal Confetti is a polish I’ve been wanting for quite a while now but for the longest time I couldn’t find it on shelves anywhere… I was obviously late to the party! I finally found some in Boots last week and promptly picked up two bottles. In hindsight, maybe I was a little overexcited at the time and I realise now I’ll never need two bottles. It’s just always nice to have that spare one there, you know, just in case!
Confetti is a pretty topper that contains two sizes of hexes in matte black in white glitter. There’s also a very, very subtle shimmer in the clear base. I used two coats but it looks just as good after one. It’s probably not one I’d normally wear on every finger like this but you all know how much I like a good glitter accent nail and this polish will be just perfect for that.

This swatch is two coats of L’Oreal Confetti over Sally Hansen Green Tea and Sally Hansen Crinolin all topped with Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.

Does black and white glitter get your thumbs up? Or do you prefer to keep your manis colourful?

    Cat Got Creamed

Does anyone remember the bottle of Manhattan 610k polish that’s on a tour of the world? It visited me here in the UK last October (post here) and is currently at its 9th stop in Illinois, US with Melanie.
If you are interested in playing host to this polish and being part of the adventure, visit Melanie’s post here to put your name down. You do need a blog where you can post your mani but that’s the the only requirement.

Todays nails were heavily, okay wholly, inspired by Marta’s recent post over at Chit Chat Nails which you can see here.

    Molten Metals

Not much to update today. I know it’s been a few days since I last blogged but it seems like nothing has really happened except a trip to the dentist today where I had another wisdom tooth pulled out. I’ve spent a lot of time sat inside staring at all my notes from school because I have an exam on Friday which I need to study for but it’s such a mammoth task I have no idea where to start! My plan is to knuckle down tomorrow and cram enough information in to my brain to pass.
