Sorbet Seams Swatches: We Are Golden and Chewing on a Candy Bar

I must confess, I’d never heard of Sorbet Seams but was immediately taken by their exciting range of glitter toppers when I came across this Belgian brand on Pretty Polish. The polishes were offering some pretty unique glitter combinations and the labeling was just too kitsch to ignore. Those are real punched Dymo labels on the front of the bottles. Old school! Today I have swatches of two of their polishes – We Are Golden and Chewing on a Candy Bar.

We Are Golden is made up of mostly fine gold glitter with two shades of pink hexes and little person shaped pieces… or Skull x Crossbones depending how you want to look at it I suppose!

I only had to use one coat to get a good spread of glitter for this swatch over NYC Peach Popsicles. Seeing it like this, I’d label it as a very summery glitter but it could also great over a moody, dark colour in winter, and especially around Christmas time.

Chewing on a Candy Bar has a good mix of glitter including some white bars and really pretty, iridescent purple squares. I had to use two coats for this swatch over Barry M Heather but I kind of expect that whenever there is chunky glitter involved.

With the bars and squares in these bright colours, there’s a very digital, technologic feel about this polish. I think it would look amazing with 3 coats over white.

Polish Me Silly Thermal Polishes: Get Breezy and Sizzling Sunset

Polish Me Silly Thermal Color Changing Nail Polish Swatches // The Nailasaurus

Polish Me Silly is an indie brand that’s been on my radar for a really long time but I’d never actually tried any of their polishes until recently. You may know them for their innovative use of neon glitter in their polishes and that’s exactly what I’m going to share with you today.

I have swatches of two of their Thermal Color Changing polishes – Get Breezy and Sizzling Sunset – to share today. Each polish is packed with neon glitter and the colour of the base transforms dependent on whether the polish is warm or cold!

If you have long nails that extend past the tip of your finger, you will get a ready made gradient effect where the polish is cooler on the tips and warm where it sits on your nail bed. On my short nails the polishes mostly stay in the ‘warm’ phase apart from at the very tips so I had to dunk them in ice water to get them to change colour. It’s a pretty cool party trick!

In the bottle, Get Breezy is a lovely sky blue colour with lots of bright glitter pieces from purple, to orange to green and more. For this swatch I used 3 coats with top coat.

The colour change from warm to cool on this polish is really subtle. It’s an almost white, icy blue when it’s warm but when cool, it gets a bit darker and turns to an aqua blue. A few pictures down, you can see the two right next to each other to really compare them and see how subtle the change is.

The colour change in Sizzling Sunset is way more noticeable than in Get Breezy! It contains hexes and circle glitter of yellow and gold with some fuschia hexes thrown in. This swatch is 3 coats with top coat.

It goes from a bright, sunny yellow when warm to creamy orange when cool. When I dipped my nails in cold water, the change was instantaneous and very obvious! We know that yellows are notoriously difficult polishes to work with but this one is as smooth as butter and is a really flattering tone to boot. When you see the gradient effect of half warm / half cool on this polish, you can see how it got its name.

I was really impressed with these thermal polishes. They change instantly when exposed to a change in temperature and are incredibly easy to apply. It’s really hard to pick a favourite from the two. The colour change in Sizzling Sunset is so incredible but I have a weakness for Blue and Get Breezy has the more interesting mix of glitter. If I really have to pick just one, it’s gonna be Get Breezy!

Spell Polish Pirate Swatch & Giveaway

Today’s post is quite an exciting one, I’ve got a swatch of Spell Polish Pirate and a great giveaway to go along with it. First thing’s first… Pirate!

Pirate is a glitter topper that’s right up my street with various sizes of blue hex and some silver micro glitter and green hexes. There are also larger ‘clubs’ and dots sprinkled through the bottle. For this swatch I used one coat of Pirate over Barry M Elderberry with top coat.

Glitter payoff is great and I’m really impressed at how evenly the glitter is distributed on the nails. There was no sign of clumping or bare patches that I had to go back and fix later, just a perfectly smooth application. Although it doesn’t bother me too much, it’s worth mentioning that the smell is on the strong side but Heather, Spell Polish’s creator, has let me know that the scent is being phased out for something a bit less pungent.

Different Dimension is an indie brand that’s been on my radar for a while. Any time I see a swatch of their polishes, my eyes widen and I spend a little while drinking in the pretty and I’m finally lucky enough to be the proud owner of a few of my own Different Dimensions polishes. You may have spotted Lucky making an appearance in my last blog post and today I have a full swatch of Merry Go Round.

Merry Go Round is a glow in the dark polish. The base is a milky white and it’s packed with bright glitter. I used 3 coats for this swatch topped with HK Girl top coat although you could just use one coat over a white base.

Delush XO Collection with a Waterfall

Being the perfectionist that I am, I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the waterfall nail art that you saw on my Valentine’s Nail Wheel yesterday. It was quite tricky to paint straight lines on those false nails as they have a lot more curves and bends than mine so I really wanted to give it another shot on my own nails. Aside from the fact that I haven’t done a waterfall in so long, I really wanted to have a go with the amazing Delush XO collection before Valentine’s Day!

There are three polishes in the XO Collection – Make Me Blush, Je Ne Sais Quoi and Love Me Lights Out (gotta love a good Beyoncé reference). With this collection, Delush has also introduced a new bottle design with matte handles and a wider brush.

Make Me Blush is the base for this manicure – a Baby Pink creme with an incredibly subtle gold sheen. Je Ne Sais Quoi and Love Me Lights Out are both glitters with a milky white base. The appearance of green glitter was a surprise in a Valentine’s collection but the soft shade really works with the pinks and purples to create two glitters that are perfect not just for Valentine’s but the whole of spring.

Je Ne Sais Quoi is my favourite of the two glitters. There’s a good mixture of pink and mint green glitter in this one and the base is slightly pink tinted.

I’m wearing Love Me Lights Out on my ring finger. I really like the yellow gold in this one and there are also bright pink stars scattered through it although I didn’t manage to pick any of them up this time.

For these nails, I used 2 coats of Delush Make Me Blush as my base.

I applied two coats of Je Ne Sais Quoi on my first finger and two coats of Love Me Lights Out on my ring finger.

I created the Waterfall using Sally Hansen Lovely Lilac, China Glaze Pink-ie Promise, piCture pOlish Electric Dream and Barry M Gold Foil. There’s a waterfall nail art tutorial here.

It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

Nail Lacquer UK Sticks and Stones Blue

Not too long ago, AJ from Nail Lacquer UK got in touch to see if I’d be interested in trying out a few of her polishes and I of course jumped at the chance to review some Indies from a UK based maker. There are so many amazing glitters in her store that it took me a while to decide on just a few but I asked if I could try Sticks and Stones Blue and Dog Days. I’m so happy to see a UK indie maker with such an amazing selection. The best part is that I can buy up as many bottles as I want without insane shipping or import costs!

Another sweet little detail I want to mention is that each polish comes with a little handmade charm themed to suit the polish. You can either keep these round the bottle or clip them on to a charm bracelet (or anywhere else you want to wear them) with the lobster clasp. I’m currently rocking on one my purse! How’s that for a loving touch?

Today I have a swatch of Sticks and Stones Blue to share. This polish is a classic black and white, bar and hex glitter with some lavender and blue additions with extra squares. There’s a really good amount of glitter in the bottle – I only had to use one coat for this swatch. I’m really impressed with this polish and I really can’t wait to try Dog Days too. Nail Lacquer UK polishes can be purchased in AJ’s Etsy store. Mini bottles are £3.50 and the full sizes range from £5.50-£7.50.

My base colour is NYC Raindrop and I used one coat of Nail Lacquer UK Sticks and Stones Blue.
For the accent nails I use striping tape to mark off some racing stripes, then painted Barry M Matt White straight down the middle and NYC Lavender Cupcake at the sides. I added a pastel purple stud from Born Pretty Store.

It’s all topped off with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.
