    Red Nose Day 2013

Here in the UK it’s Red Nose Day tomorrow. Although it’s impossible here to avoid it, overseas readers might be unfamiliar with the concept! RND is a national annual fundraising event and you can read more about it here. Every year they sell red noses up and down the country to raise money and this year they’re di-NOSE-saurs. Amazing right? Meet Dinomite, T-Spex and Triceytops!

The red is Rimmel Heart on Fire with two coats of Barry M Red Glitter on my ring finger. I did the small freehand details using acrylic paint and a small nail art brush. For the dotty fingers I used a base of Barry M White and then picked up a dotting tool to apply Heart on Fire.
Finally I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Black and White Day 10: Your Choice

For the last day of the challenge we decided to recreate our favourite manicure that someone else had created during the challenge. So I had the near impossible task of picking from 42 manicures! In the end, I came to a compromise, I’d dedicate one finger on my hand to my favourite design from each of the other 5 ladies.

W7 Black as a base. Using scotch tape to mark of the triangle closest to my cuticle, I used BYS Flirty Sparkle. I gave up on scotch tape and freehanded the next triangle with Rimmel Daisy Chain.

Barry M White as my base colour. First I used a large dotting tool and W7 Black, then a slightly smaller dotting tool with Barry M White to dot in the centres.

Finally, I finished off each nail with two coats of NYC In A New York Minute.

    I have a job!

I started a new job this week as a retail assistant in HMV. For my first day, I painted my nails to match the uniform and I thought I’d do a quick post to show you!
From a conversation I had on Twitter, I gather that HMV definitely exists in Singapore, Canada and obviously here in the UK, but there are no stores in the USA so apologies if you don’t recognise the imagery!
I used A-England Lancelot* as a base. For the lettering and logo, I used white acrylic paint and Nails Inc Shoreditch. The lettering was all done with a dotting tool. My pinky is a stamp from Bundle Monster plate BM225 using Sally Hansen Chrome Anemone.

    Day 27: Inspired by Artwork

On Thursday night, I found myself deep in conversation with a friend of mine who’s spent some time travelling around Australis we got on to the topic of Aboriginal Art and suggested I do some nails in the same style. At the time, I didn’t catch on to the fact that today’s nails had to be inspired by Artwork but when she sent me a link to some images it was like… *lightbulb*!

This is a piece by Colleen Wallace Nungari and was my main influence today.

Video Tutorial: Simple Flower Nail Art

Here is a quick tutorial for the flower nails I created on Day 14. I had so many lovely comments and the design is just so simple to create so I thought I’d show you how I went about it.

All you need is to create this look yourself  is a few colours of your choice; a base colour and however many colours you decide to use for the flowers, and a dotting tool. And if you don’t have a dotting tool, bobby pins make a great subsitute!

    Day 11: Polka Dot Nails

Polka dots are so fun and easy and yet they make your nails look completely amazing!
When I first got my dotting tools I hated using them and was just never happy with my results but after a bit of practice, I absolutely love them and they’re SO versatile. I use them for all kinds of nail art, not just dots.
Today’s nails are in my favouritest colour ever – purple, purple and more purple!
Head over to see Rie and Cristina‘s Polka Dots challenges too!
