    Christmas is Coming

It feels like someone flipped a switch yesterday which just made everyone go mental! Suddenly everyone has gone crazy for Christmas so I thought I may as well leap in to the mania head first and get started on some Christmas manis. I’m sure there will be more to come, I just thought I should ease myself in today with something mildly festive!

I started with one coat of PVA Glue (I know it sounds insane, but it makes removing the glitter so much easier). Once that was dry, I used 3 coats of Sally Hansen Gilded Lily* and stamped on a swirly design from Bundle Monster Plate BM314 using Sally Hanses InstaDri in Rapid Red.

    Happy Halloween!

I’ve been so busy recently but I managed to fit in some time for a Halloween manicure! Last night, I carved my first pumpkin and I wasn’t planning anything special tonight but a few friends and I have decided to go out. I have a red cape and some devil horns and that’s about as far as my dress up skills stretch!
I also have some news about my lighting. Well, not news so much but here’s the story… my desk lamp which is the one I use for photographing my nails too has been on it’s death bed for a while and finally popped it’s clogs a few days ago. Finding a new lamp became priority number one and my Mum recommended I find out what Argos are selling. Turns out that lamp was in fact from Argos and they still sell it. Oh, and it’s a bargain! It’s £19.99 and comes in Black and Silver
I never knew the source of my magical lamp before because I just found it lying around in the house. When I used to get questions about it, all I could say was it’s a fluorescent desk lamp but now you know the gory details!

My thumb is A-England Lancelot as a base and the cobweb from Bundle Monster plate BM13 with Barry M Silver Foil.
The blood drips were created with OPI Samoan Sand as a base colour and Cult Nails Quench applied with a nail art brush to create the drips.
The haunted house and pumpkin are from Bundle Monster plate BM305 and stamped using W7 Black. The orange is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed and the yellow is NYC Lexington Yellow*.

    Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Art

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month which means PINK!
I won’t waffle on the subject because I’m really not an expert so you should head over to the Breast Cancer Care website to educate yourself at your leisure.

BYS Pretty as a Peach, Rimmel Urban Princess and Kriston No16 acted as my base colours for this mani and I used them for stamping as well as Miss Sporty Zodiac. The pattern is from Bundle Monster Plate BM321 and the glequins came from Born Pretty Store. I finished it all off with a few coats of Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

The Ones That Didn’t Quite Make It

Next Monday, Tadashi Shoji are launching a Nail Art Contest on their Facebook page and they kindly invited me to be a part of the line up amongst some other amazing nail bloggers!
This is a set of nails inspired by one of Tadashi Shoji’s SS13 dresses that didn’t quite make the cut. That’s not to say I don’t like them though, I still think they look good so what’s the point in keeping them a secret?! You’ll see my final design next week when voting opens and I’m so excited to see the other bloggers’ designs. I’m going up against some stiff competition, let me tell you!

I used Cult Nails Cruisin Nude as a base colour and stamped on the swirly design from Bundle Monster Plate BM314  and W7 Black. I used a striping brush with the W7 Black to freehand the sections at the side. Finally, I topped it with two coats of Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

    Winter is Coming

I had an exciting evening last night which is which meant I didn’t sit down in front of a computer all evening, which NEVER happens! I finally got myself a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy SIII, which made me realise how ancient my previous model, the Nokia 5800, really is. I also picked up a Helmer so I can claim back a lot of surface space in my room that’s been lost to bottles of nail polish! I haven’t had a chance to assemble it yet but I’m sure that will be another highlight to the week. I’m not even being sarcastic right there, I genuinely love me a bit of flat pack furniture!
Winter is most definitely coming. This week I really started noticing it when I have to force myself out of bed in the mornings. Stepping out of a hot shower in to a cold room is one of my least favourite feelings ever! I used to look forward to the winter but this year was the first time I ever really enjoyed the summer weather and I’m going to miss it.

My base colour is GOSH Pool Party and I used GOSH Metallic Blue to stamp on a snowflake design from Bundle Monster Plate BM323. I added some holographic glequins from Born Pretty Store to add an extra icy feel and finished it off with a top coat of No7 Stay Perfect

    Show Off

These are the nails I will be wearing to The Nails Show on Saturday, provided they haven’t chipped/fallen off/been picked off by then because I might not get a chance to redo them before the event. Although it’s not like I’m gonna be short of nail supplies where I’m going!
I know that lots of you are going to the event and I can’t wait to meet you if you are gonna be there! I’m not exhibitioning in case some of you thought that’s why I was going. I’m just gonna be a regular Joe strolling around so if you see me, come say hi! I’ll try to wear something distinctive and I’ll tweet what I look like so I’m kinda easy to spot!

I wanted to do some of my designs that people have responded to best and that really marked milestones in this blog I’m kind of best known for; my studded nail, the gradient and now glequin honeycomb.

The base colour is A-England Galahad and I used Barry M Gold Foil for the gradient and stamping (Bundle Monster BM322).
My thumb is a ‘Nebula Nail’ and the extra polishes are Barry M White, Nail Pop Glamrock, A-England Saint George and NYC Starry Silver Glitter.

Pink Wednesday: Get Your Pink Papers!

It’s been an age since you saw any pink here and even longer since it was a Pink Wednesday so I thought I’d crack out my trusty Rimmel pink and finally try out this stamp. I’ve always loved newspaper nail art but never managed to successfully recreate it myself so this stamp has had me very excited. I think it’s a pretty good alternative to the real thing!

The base colour is quite possibly my favourite pink – Rimmel Urban Princess – and I used Bundle Monster plate BM311 with Sally Hansen Insta Dri Whirlwind White.
