    MUA Nail Constellation in Scorpio

I took a trip to Superdrug today and was greeted at the door by a new, huge spinning MUA display that was surprisingly well stocked and up to date. They’ve recently released their Nail Constellations which are a £3 version of Ciate’s Caviar manicure. It’s really just a pot of mixed bullion with a pourer on the top and although I have tons of the stuff lying around, I couldn’t resist picking up one of these bottles. This particular set is called Scorpio.
The bottle is quite clever as it only allows you to pour out a tiny bit at a time so you aren’t going end up spilling tiny beads everywhere. The only thing that bugs me is that I couldn’t find any way to get wastage back in to the bottle. I didn’t have to throw away too much of the product but I only did one nail* (see bottom of post). Ah well, for the price, I’m not gonna cry about it!

My base colour is Rimmel Desire and I used Barry M Gold Foil for the ruffian accents. For my accent nail, I poured over the beads while my second coat of colour was still wet, then patted them down gently to really stick them in to the polish. I’ve got a top coat of Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails on all but the accent finger.

*I’ve since been told that the lid can be removed and even doubles as a funnel for pouring the beads back in to the bottle. See here. I did originally try to remove the lid but wasn’t rough enough. Be careful though, because if you slip in the process, your carpet will look like a constellation!

    Doooo You Have The Time?

I used this colour combo in my Union Jack frenzy on Sunday and although it was one of the duller combinations, it was actually my favourite nail. I’ve always loved Blue and brown together although it has to be the right brown and blue. This tealy, aquaish blue works well but I can’t imagine it would look so good with a navy.

The criss cross pattern is a variation on a WAH Nails design – Basket Case. The WAH design uses three lines in each stripe but I’ve only used two because I’ve only got nubbins at the moment! The glitter was a last minute addition and I’m so glad I put it in there!

There are a few quick announcements I want to make! I finally have an FAQs page now that I will be adding to as time goes by. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now so it’s like a huge weight off my shoulders!
It’s been over two weeks since I asked if anyone wanted to pin for me and the response was great. I’ve been a very bad blogger and I’ve still not finished that little project. Turns out it’s way harder to organise than I thought it would be! I will finish that all up very soon so I’m very sorry if you’re still waiting to hear.

I used Cult Nails Tulum as my base colour and painted on the lines with GOSH Pool Party and a striping brush. I added some Barry M Blue Glitter to the accent nail and finished with a two coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

    Gradient Nails Part Trois

It’s just a quick one tonight as it’s already past 1am and I’m hella sleepy!
I hope you’re not sick of the gradients yet, I’m certainly not and I’m having a great time trying it out with different colour combinations. So far I’ve tried Pink and Girly, Bright and Fruity and today is Soft and Neutral. I think it’s my favourite combo so far!

I used E.L.F Desert Haze as a base and then NYC Lexington Yellow following this tutorial. The top coat I used to glaze it is so thick, it’s practically a solid so it’s bubbled like crazy but the bubbles are not at all noticeable in real life unless you look very, very closely!

♪♫ Move with me or get out of my face

Wowsa, I’m tired tonight! You may be able to tell from the mass of incoherent sentences that I’m surely about to write. I’ve had a headache all day which is probably a sign that I should have gone to bed at a reasonable hour but I was determined to blog tonight.
I’ve been banging on about these lipsticks that I bought all day! I found some Rimmel lipsticks for £1 and ended up taking home 3 colours, I am in LOVE with the Coral shade and can’t believe I never tried coral sooner. It could look shockingly bad on me (orange hair and orange lips, whaaaaat?!) but I absolutely love it. I did a quick blog post about them here if you want to see the colour I mean.

    Shake Me Down

Sorry I haven’t properly got back in to my blogging routine yet. I though that once I finished my exams I would be back to posting regularly but things are still very hectic. Anyway, I’m sure you’re tired of hearing my excuses so I won’t give you any more. Just know that I’m slowly but surely getting my blog-mentum back!

I know I’ve been neglectful recently when it comes to replying to all your lovely comments. Even if I don’t respond underneath I do read every single one and will make all efforts to reply to your specific questions.
If you have any of these specific questions, you’ll probably get a faster response if you Twit or Email me. It might also be fun if you Formspring me. I’ve only ever had 3 questions asked and it would be cool to get some more! I’ll answer pretty much anything you ask so go wild!

    E.L.F Mod Mauve

I’ve had this polish in my drawer for months now but have never worn it because I was so disappointed with the way it looks IRL compared to the swatch on the website. After looking at a few other people’s swatches (herehere and here) I’m starting to think I got a dud bottle. I can only describe it as muddy red.
I was appalled at this colour when I first applied it but it’s growing on me now. I don’t really have anything else like this in my collection – probably because it’s kind of ‘blah’ and wouldn’t stand out to me if I saw it on a shop shelf – so I’m not going to throw it away but it won’t be a polish that I pick out very often. I can’t even think of any occasions when this would be a good shade to wear.

It was really hard to pick colours to match for the nail art but I think I picked some good ones which have helped in making me like this colour a bit better.

It’s weird to see a picture of my nails upside down like this but I thought I’d shake things up a bit today and take some photos from different angles. I’m very particular and normally like uniformity but I realise the front on pictures everyday get a bit same-y so I’ll be trying some more exciting shots from now on.
