Wrapping Paper Nails, Christmas Gifts on eBay and a Giveaway

Wrapping Paper Nails, Christmas Gifts on eBay and a Giveaway

I really can’t believe Christmas is less than one week away. I feel like we were still in November last the weekend! I still have a few things on my to-do list so I’m hoping I can fit them in before the big day. I have a few days off just before the 25th so it’s going to be the usual mad dash to the finish line! This year has been another dry one for me when it comes to Christmas nail art and even when I do create some, it’s just ‘barely there’ Christmas! Today I’ve gone for a Christmas paper look. All classy, like!

    My Inspiration

Believe it or not, I don’t get gifted a lot of nail themed items at Christmas. I’m very fortunate to have more nail polish than I’ll ever need and I think my friends and family have realised this! I have a theory that they don’t bother getting me nail stuffs in case I already have it in my stash (which, let’s face it, I probably do). However, it got me thinking – what would be the perfect gift for a nail lover who (seemingly) has everything?

If you’re scrambling for some last minute gifts ideas, I’ve put together a collection on eBay, Gifts for the Nailista, with some ideas you might like. Most are somewhat out of the ordinary and I threw in a few of the usual suspects too! My personal favourites are a Year’s Supply of Top Coat (you really can’t go wrong with this one) and the one that’s at the top of my own wishlist this year, the Gelish starter kit!

Click here here to see the rest of the collection and read on to find out how you can win a £20 eBay voucher!

    Nail Art

To wrap my nails all up in paper, I used Barry M Coconut and NYC Flat Iron Green as my base colours. Flat Iron Green has turned so dark under the stamping and top coats that it just looks like a straight up black now but I think it’s quite a nice contrast to have the black vs. white.

For the stamping, I used the baroque patterns from MoYou Fashionista 08 with Barry M Gold Foil over the white. Then stamped the snowflakes from Bundle Monster Plate BM223 with A-England Excalibur Renaissance over the black.

It’s all topped with one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl, then one of NYC Matte Me Crazy to finish off the look.

    Giveaway

For the chance to win a £20 eBay Gift Voucher all you have to do is hop over to my collection of ‘Gifts for the Nailista‘ (and/or my other collection, Autumn Essentials) and give it a follow. It really is as simple as it sounds:

    • Click here to go to the Collection
    • If you like what you see, use the ‘Follow’ button in the top right of the page (just make sure you’re logged in to eBay)
    • One winner will be picked at random and they’ll be contacted by eBay on or before January 5th 2015

    Best of the Bundle

The Houndstooth design is by far my favourite from the most recent set of Bundle Monster plates. There aren’t a lot of patterns in the 2012 Bundle that really stand out to me but this is one of them. And it stands at the front! I love those stamping patterns that are so seamless, you can’t tell which colour is the base and which was stamped on. I was going to leave it open for interpretation but I’ve totally given myself away with the black accent finger!

Black and White Challenge Day 4: White base with Color

Netflix is pretty new to the UK and I’ve been signed up for a while now. As is to be expected, though, it’s seriously detrimental to my productivity! I’ve spent the past two days vegging out in front of the TV watching 90’s movies. Some of my favourites include The Parent Trap, Clueless and George of the Jungle! I think I’m going to start watching The IT Crowd this week because I keep seeing hilarious gifs of it on Tumblr!
Day 4 of the Black and White Challenge calls for a white base with come colour and I knew immediately that I wanted to use a holographic. And what better holographic than THE Holographic. I heard rumours a few weeks ago that GOSH were going to bring back the ‘VHTF’ (Very Hard To Find) polish but then they died down and I’ve heard nothing on the subject since.

Day 29: Inspired by The Supernatural

Today’s nails are kind of boring. I really couldn’t think of anything supernatural except for ghosts so that’s what we’re getting today! It’s funny that I never used this stamp before Halloween and now I’ve used it twice in one week!

Don’t forget to check out Cristina and Rie‘s supernatural nails today!

The base colour is W7 Metallic Neptune and I used Sally Hansen Whirlwind White to stamp the ghost from Bundle Monster plate BM223. Then, of course, I added a top coat of NYC.

    Halloween Nail Art!

I wasn’t originally planning to do any Halloween nails but I had a Twitter request so of course, I had to oblige!
I used Miss Sporty Orange and Rimmel Black Satin as my base colours.
The stamps are from Bundle Monster plates BM224 and BM223 and I used white acrylic paint to freehand the skeleton.

♪♫ Memories of times and the places that were there

I can’t believe it’s Friday already! This week has flown by so quickly.
You might have noticed a few changes around here recently. I put up a new banner a little while ago and my pictures have also taken a turn for the better if I do say so myself!
I’ve been wanting a great lamp with a white fluorescent bulb for a long time after Cris gave me some advice about lighting. They can be a bit pricey but I was lucky enough to find one in the house. It’s been sat on the same side table for months and I’ve gotten so used to seeing it that I just forgot it was there.
I was sat in the lounge one day when I caught a glimpse of it and just had one of those moments where something clicked in my brain and I realised it was exactly what I’d been wanting for weeks!
I also changed my watermark and have started stamping it in to the middle of the pictures because I’ve seen a few of my pictures online with the watermark cropped out and no credit given which is so annoying (and illegal). So, I have to put it in a place where it can’t be cropped without slicing up the picture, but I’m trying to keep it as unobtrusive as possible and I hope you guys don’t mind too much.
I started out using scotch tape to mark off the black sections at the side but it ruined the mani underneath so I just whipped out a striping brush and freehanded the a line then filled it in after. It’s obviously not as crisp a line as you would get using scotch tape but it saves a lot of time and hassle.

    Molten Metals

Not much to update today. I know it’s been a few days since I last blogged but it seems like nothing has really happened except a trip to the dentist today where I had another wisdom tooth pulled out. I’ve spent a lot of time sat inside staring at all my notes from school because I have an exam on Friday which I need to study for but it’s such a mammoth task I have no idea where to start! My plan is to knuckle down tomorrow and cram enough information in to my brain to pass.
