    Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2013

As some of you will know, this year I was shortlisted in the Best Established Beauty Blog category at the Cosmpolitan Blog Awards. On Wednesday, after months of waiting and planning and getting all excited, the big event was held in London. I made my way to the big city, giant suitcase in tow, to meet up with AliceAmeliaLucy and Allie and we headed to the ceremony together!
I had such a great time at the awards and I really loved getting to meet up with the other lovely ladies in attendance. I didn’t win in my category but Alice from One Nail To Rule Them All was representing the nail blogs by taking home the title of Best New Beauty Blog! It was definitely a night to remember and I owe a huge thanks to all of you lovely people who nominated me and made it possible! I’ll try not to get too soppy but I really do well up when I think about you guys taking the time to nominate and vote for my blog. Thank you so so much!
I spent most of the day before trying to decide on nail art to wear for the night and this is the design I settled on. I’ve also included a few snaps from the event after the jump!

For the gradients nails I used NYC Raindrop as the base with China Glaze Sunday Funday and added some little black studs. There’s a gradient tutorial here
The beautiful blue glitter on my pointer finger is Azature’s Blue Diamond Polish. I stamped on the chevron design from Bundle Monster Plate BM-201 using W7 Black over Barry M White.
It’s all topped off with one coat of No7 Stay Perfect Top Coat and one of Essence Better Than Gel Nails High Gloss Sealer for a super shiny finish.

And here are a few shots from the night, I even make a brief appearance in Cosmo’s video of the event at 1.10!

Of course I had to squeeze in a cheeky selfie. Check out my favourite T-Rex Necklace!

    Banish the Blues: Mint Chevrons

I’m on such a chevron kick recently and although using tape and craft scissors is great because I get to choose exactly where each zig zag goes, the chevron plate from Bundle Monster’s 25pc set gives super crisp results when I don’t have the time or spare energy to use the tape method!

I used a base colour of Essie Navigate Her and stamped on the chevron design from Bundle Monster Plate BM201 using Born Pretty’s Matt White Polish (SUCH a good stamping polish!). I used 1 coat of Sonnetarium Snowfall on my ring finger and topped it all off with a coat of No7 Stay Perfect Top Coat.

    Pop

The pink polishes in my collection get overlooked most of the time – I’m just not a pink and sparkly kind of girl. I spotted this colour combination somewhere this week (although I have no idea where!) and it just popped right out at me so the next logical step was to paint it on my nails!

The blue is Barry M Guava and the pink is an unnamed Kriston polish which is a brand I’ve only ever seen in my local pharmacy.  On my pointer finger, I used one coat of the Kriston polish with two coats of Sally Hansen Lady Luck. The black studs are from Born Pretty Store and on my ring finger I’m wearing a base coat of Barry M White stamped with W7 Black and Bundle Monster Plate BM201.

    Broken Nailed

Consider this a slightly early Pink Wednesday post!
My nails are in a sorry state at the moment due to my dwindling supply of OPI Nail Envy. I need a new bottle and I normally save my credit on Valued Opinions to buy it on Amazon but I’ve recently neglected my account so I need to do a few more surveys before I have enough virtual pennies.
I’ve been meaning to write a review of the Nail Envy for a while and this shortage has reminded me how much I love it and need to tell you all about it! Basically, it’s the sole reason I have been able to grow my nails and keep them long, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

    Purple or Purple?

I’m going to see Jimmy Eat World tonight! It’s very exciting, I just wish I knew more of their songs, haha! I was going to sell my ticket but since Blink 182 have postponed their tour I decided to go to this show because otherwise, I won’t have been to a single one this year 🙁

    Mixing It Up

I had my last exam on Monday and it’s such a relief to resume normal human activities like sleeping and eating! And of course it means I can get back to blogging more than once a week. Thank you to everyone that has liked my new Facebook page. I’m still working on getting lots of pictures up and just deciding how best to organise it!
