I’m very happy today because Superdrug finally have ‘NYC In A New York Minute’ top coat in stock.
For weeks now, I’ve been diluting my gloopy bottle with GOSH top coat and every time I was near a Superdrug I HAD to go in and check for it until today, finally, I found some.
I was a bit worried they’d stopped making the stuff but it turns out they’ve just changed the packaging. I don’t see why it should be out of stock for 4 weeks just for a change of packaging?!
Here’s my shiny new bottle on the right with the old one on the left. Can you see how yellow the old one’s gone?
I took advantage of the 3 for 2 offer (on all cosmetics at Superdrug) and bought two bottles of the NYC and the Barry M blue glitter because I love the red one so much.
Normally I steer well clear of glitter nail polish but this one’s just too Christmassy not to wear! So here’s my first Christmas Mani…

And slightly out of focus so you can see the glitter…
When I was out shopping today, I remembered that someone had mentioned in my previous post about this new polish that they tried it on in the store. So instead of buying it, I sneakily painted on a layer while in Superdrug. I was wearing BYS Matte Grey at the time, which I realise isn’t the best colour to demonstrate a cracking black polish but it was very spur of the moment.
I have only ever tried one other crackling polish from BYS which is no where near as good as this. This one cracks within seconds of touching the nail and continues for a little while so you can actually watch it cracking which is great fun.
You can see that it hasn’t cracked as much on my pinky, but I think that’s because I painted a thinner coat.
I wouldn’t buy this polish myself, although I could be tempted if they were to release other colours, but it is a great effect polish that makes it so easy to get a different look especially if you don’t have much time to spend on your nails.
My top coat is dangerously low at the moment, so today I popped in to Superdrug to get some more. Unfortunately they didn’t have a single bottle of my favourite NYC Top Coat so I am going to have to go to the bigger store in town in a few days.
BUT, this Barry M display caught my eye.
As you can see in the picture below, the black blocky effect is from a new addition to their line called ‘Instant Nail Effects’. I am assuming from the pictures and a little online research that this is Barry M’s crack (pardon the somewhat obvious pun) at a Crackle Effect polish.
And this is what the bottle looks like. It’s the same as any other bottle of theirs, just with a different lid.
I think it only comes in black at the moment and sells for £3.95 – £1 more than their colours.
Have you seen this in stores? Have you tried it? Is it a good crackle polish?
Sorry I’ve been such a bad blogger this week. I’m starting back at University on Monday so there’s been lots of stuff to organise and lots of fun with friends to be had. I haven’t seen many of my good friends from school for 4 months so I’ve spent a lot of time catching up with them, visiting their houses and going out.
I will be replying to all your comments later tonight. I could have replied before but I didn’t want to rush through it and was waiting for when I have some time to sit down and give them all the proper attention they deserve.
And disaster struck again on Tuesday night when I broke the nail on my ring finger while at the supermarket so I’ve cut down all my nails to balance things out a bit.

And here is the costume that matches the Dalmatian nails that I did on Saturday for a fancy dress (costume) party.
