    31DC2012: Violet Nails

If you couldn’t tell I’m totally obsessed with skittle manis at the moment. We’re on the last day of ‘plain colour’ challenges today so the frequency of skittles will probably decrease severely over the next couple of challenge days as it’s just a nice way to spice up a plain colour.
For today’s nails I used two coats of Models Own Purple Grey as a base. This is where it gets complicated! On my forefinger, I added two coats of Sinful Colors Daddy’s Girl. On my ring finger I stamped the fishnet design from Bundle Monster Plate BM209 with Barry M Lilac Foil and on every other finger, I used two coats of JENsations Fantasy. Phew!
I’m very excited to see Cris and Rie’s manicures today. I do love me some purple nails!

    31DC2012 Day 5: I Just Blue Myself

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist with the title. Cool points for you if you know the reference.
Okay so today’s nails are debatably blue. I’ve always considered this polish, A-England’s Galahad, to be a  blue one but now that I’m staring at it on the screen I can see that it leans a lot towards green! It’s one of those that sits on the line right between the two so I guess it really comes down to personal opinion today!
I used two coats of A-England Galahad with two coats of BYS Gold Finger on my index finger and some gold glequins applied in a honeycomb pattern on my ring finger (video tutorial for that here). I topped it all off with a top coat of Seche Vite.
As always, check out Rie and Cristina ‘s blogs to see what beautiful blues they’ve found today!

    31DC2012: Day 4 Green Nails

You all know how much I love a bargain and my base colour today, you’ll be pleased to hear, was indeed a bargain. I’ve mentioned before that I found some Essies in TK Maxx well now I’ve found some in The Original Factory Shop for £3 each. I picked up two and this is definitely my favourite, Navigate Her. It’s a mint green for autumn. There’s just a hint of something in there which makes it less pastel and more creamy.
I sparkled it up with JENsations Buried Treasure, then went freestyle with Sinful Colors Last Chance and La Femme Lime Cream. Finally, I topped it with two coats of Seche Vite.
Rie and Cristina will also have some green manicures for you today!

    31DC2012: Day 3 Yellow Nails

Yellow isn’t one of those colours I just have lying around. I have a grand total of two yellow nail polishes in the drawer, up one whole bottle on last year
I’m being kinda harsh, I actually really like this shade from NYC which is called Lexington Yellow. So much so that I’ve nearly used up the bottle and will definitely be repurchasing it. It’s not an In Your Face neon yellow, it’s just subtle enough to pass for a pastel and when you add some nail art it becomes positively pretty.
I wonder if Cris and Rie have a better collection of yellows than I do!

I used two coats of NYC Lexington Yellow as my base. I added some glequins on my ring finger and two coats of Ozotic 530 on the index. I topped it off with two coats of Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails.

    31DC2012: Day 2 Orange Nails

Welcome to Day 2 of the challenge! Today calls for orange nails but I added in a little zig zag on the tips which was inspired by Nailside‘s signature style. Only I pretty much hate scotch tape so I just freehanded the tips with a brush!
I used No7 Tangy as my base colour and Essence Irreplaceable for the tips. It’s finished off with two coats of Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails.

Cristina and Rie will have some kick ass orange nails for you today too!

31 Day Challenge Take 2! Day 1: Red Nails

Welcome to the 31 Day Challenge. Today I’m feeling very excited at the prospect but ask me 3 weeks in and I might not be feeling wuite so positive about the whole experience! I can’t decide whether to integrate nail art in to the first 6 days of the challenge (which are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet) because the rest of the challenge is so nail art heavy, so I think I’ll take it a day at a time and see where the colours take me!
Today’s pretty glitter comes courtesy of Aphrodite Lacquers•. The shade is smoulder and it’s a red jelly polish packed with fine, shimmery glitter and some slightly larger red and light pink pieces. I used two coats of Smolder over two coats of Cult Nails Quench apart from on my ring finger, which I believe is know as the ‘reverse accent’. I topped it all with with two coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Advanced.

You can buy Smolder from Rebecca’s Etsy shop for $8.00 plus shipping.

Pop over to Let Them Have Polish! and Nails and Noms to see what my fellow challengers have come up with today!

    Starting Tomorrow…

… Rie of Nails and Noms, Cris of Let Them Have Polish and I will be embarking on the 31 Day Challenge again! I’ve been toying with the idea for a while and October 10th marks the one year anniversary of last year’s attempt so I think it’s the perfect time to start all over again!
Instead of posting daily, which pretty much took over my life last year, we’re going to be posting 4 times each week. Last year, I came up with some of my favourite manis ever as a result of this challenge so hopefully this year, I’ll create some even better ones.
