    Cadillacquer Remember Me Swatch

    I have a few polishes from indie brand, Cadillacquer, to show you this month and today I’m kicking things off with Remember Me. How amazing is that name… Cadillacquer? It oozes awesome just like their polishes!
    Remember Me is a beautiful creamy blue base with an assortment of pink glitters and a few little silver specks mixed in too. It gives the look of a speckled egg and I think the finish is just too cute. I used two coats here with a top coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly and some matte top coat on my ring finger.

    Models Own Artistix Duos Review

    Models Own recently released a range of funky polish duos. Each duo is a pretty combination of one colour polish and one glitter from their extensive line of polishes. I love wearing glitter toppers on my nails and I don’t know about you guys, but to this day I’ve never made it to the bottom of a bottle of glitter! Has anyone?! These sounded like an ideal solution – a little colour and a little glitter for almost the same price as one regular bottle of polish. (These RRP at £6 each and the regular bottles are £5). Win win!
    The duos come in double ended bottles with the brushes sticking outwards from the middle. Now I know what you’re thinking… at first I had doubts about how easy these brushes would be to manoeuvre too but they’re surprisingly easy to use and I didn’t have any problem with application. Now on to the fun part… swatches!

    Blibble – Bubblegum x Blizzard
    Blibble is a very ‘loud’ combo, perfect for summer holidays. The base colour is Bubblegum, a bright fluorescent pink and it applied well in two coats. My camera didn’t do a very good job of capturing how bright it really is. I used one coat of Blizzard on top and coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly to finish it off.

    Jade Flakes – Jade Stone x Snowflakes
    I love the base colour in this one but I was disappointed with the topper. Snowflakes is very thick and gooey so I found it hard to manage and there wasn’t much glitter payoff for all my troubles. I used two coats of Snowflake and you can see it’s still very sparse. It is a lovely looking combination but with all those coats it took way too long to dry thanks the gooey base in Snowflakes.
    Jade Stone is a Models Own shade that I’ve had my eye on for a while and it’s as brilliant as I’d hoped. Perfect application in two coats!

    Pink Stuff – Pastel Pink x Hot Stuff
    This is my pick of the three and I don’t have much to say about it other than it’s great! I love the hand cut glitter in Hot Stuff which is from the mirrorball collection. I used 3 thin coats of Pastel Pink with one coat of Hot Stuff plus a top coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.

    Aphrodite Lacquers: Ever Unhappy and Romance Never Dies Swatches

    There’s a new indie collection in town. Aphrodite Lacquers have just released a beautiful new collection, True Love and Heartbreak, which is made up of 6 Glitter Jellies and 3 Glitter Top Coats. I’ve got two of the polishes swatched for you today, one jelly and one glitter topper.
    They’re all available from the Aphrodite Lacquers Etsy store for $9/bottle.

    Ever Unhappy is a plum pink jelly sandwich in a bottle. I used 3 coats here with a top coat to smooth it all over. It’s quite thick in consistency but applies smoothly with a good distribution of glitter.
    The glitters are various sized hexes and squares and I’m in love with the bluey purple iridescent glitters which completely hide away until they catch the light and start sparkling.

    This is one coat (seriously, one coat!) of Romance Never Dies over Barry M Blue Grape. There’s so much bling packed in to this bottle! The clear base is full of blue, silver and holographic shimmer with squares and hexes in matte white, silver and the same iridescent blue that makes Ever Unhappy so special.

    L’Oreal Confetti Top Coat Swatch

    L’Oreal Confetti is a polish I’ve been wanting for quite a while now but for the longest time I couldn’t find it on shelves anywhere… I was obviously late to the party! I finally found some in Boots last week and promptly picked up two bottles. In hindsight, maybe I was a little overexcited at the time and I realise now I’ll never need two bottles. It’s just always nice to have that spare one there, you know, just in case!
    Confetti is a pretty topper that contains two sizes of hexes in matte black in white glitter. There’s also a very, very subtle shimmer in the clear base. I used two coats but it looks just as good after one. It’s probably not one I’d normally wear on every finger like this but you all know how much I like a good glitter accent nail and this polish will be just perfect for that.

    This swatch is two coats of L’Oreal Confetti over Sally Hansen Green Tea and Sally Hansen Crinolin all topped with Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.

    Does black and white glitter get your thumbs up? Or do you prefer to keep your manis colourful?

    Cirque Tibetan Nights Swatch

    Today I have another incredible Cirque polish. Are there any that aren’t incredible?! Tibetan Nights* is a deep blue jelly polish containing small shreds and squares of blue and silver glitter. I used two coats for these swatches and application is flawless. I should note that I used a base coat of PVA glue on account of all the glitter to make removal super easy.

    For the accent finger I used a few bits of striping tape to mark off the lines and painted over it in Sally Hansen Gilded Lily before peeling off the tape.
    The cute bow decal is from Born Pretty. They come as flat metal decals and I use a pair of tweezers to gently curve the metal so it sits flush on my nail. Finally I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite.

    Black Cat Lacquer: Welcome to Portlandia Swatches

    Today I have Black Cat Lacquer‘s Welcome To Portlandia collection* for your eyeballs. I have to admit, when I first saw these polishes in the bottles I wasn’t completely sold but as soon as they were on my nails I completely changed my mind about every single one. Aside from the black and white glitter, they each bring something totally new to my stash – I’ve never seen anything else like them.

    This is two coats of Put A Bird on It over Nails Inc All Saints Row. It’s a selection of lightly coloured matte glitter in a shimmery, slightly white base.

    Sanitation Twins is a real jumble of colours and glitters. Too many to list here! It gives great, even coverage and I used two coats over NYC Lavender Cupcake and Barry M Greenberry on the accent.

    The Dream of the 90s is Alive looks like it has a grey shimmer base but I used two coats over this dark colour, Nails Inc Belgrave Place, and all I saw was a bit of shimmer. I suspect it would be a different story over lighter colours.


    I think We Can Pickle That is my favourite from the collection. The base is a mint shimmer and the combination of glitter is just perfect. I can see pink, black and a few shades of green and blue in squares and hexes. I used two coats over Essie Navigate Her.

    Finally, we have Women and Women First which is a black and white glitter in a clear shimmery base. There’s a mix of hexes, squares and bar glitter. Here you see two coats over Barry M Dragon.

    Cirque French Roast Swatch (Kind Of)

    This is a swatch post but I’ve spent WAY too much time swatching this week (although you haven’t yet seen the fruits of my efforts because I still haven’t finished!) so instead of yet another plain old swatch I wanted to mix some nail art in to this one.
    Feast your eyes on this beauty…. Cirque‘s French Roast*. It’s a glitter polish made up of gold and bronze glitter and a few tiny bronze hexes scattered in. It’s in a clear base but I only needed 3 thin coats to get it completely opaque. Isn’t it amazing? It’s just so rich and luxe, I love it!

The wonderful lady behind this shop (who is Sally) has made it her mission to stock all the incredible polishes that are hard to find or otherwise completely unavailable in the UK. Go check it out, you might find something you’ve been lemming after for a while.

    Because of all the glitter, I applied one coat of PVA glue to my nails and let that dry thoroughly before painting on any polish.
    I used 3 coats of Cirque French Roast on my thumb and ring fingers with two top coats of Seche Vite for ultimate shininess.
    To create the gradients on my middle and pinky fingers, I applied 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Fashion then painted some of the French Roast on to the edge of a make-up sponge and dabbed it on starting from the tip and working down towards the cuticle. Again, two top coats of Seche Vite.
    My pointer finger has one coat of Fashion, one coat of French Roast and a real feather buried underneath a few top coats of Seche Vite. I made a tutorial for how do it here.
