    The Lacquer Legion Fandom: Avengers Nail Art

    #LLFandom // The Nailasaurus

    For this month’s Lacquer Legion theme – Fandom – I was completely spoilt for choice when it came to my inspiration. My mind has been going in circles since the theme was announced but in the end I settled on some Avengers nail art. I’m a big fan of the Marvel Universe and with all the buzz around Age of Ultron at Comic-Con over the weekend, I just couldn’t help myself!     For this nail art, I used a lot of nail polish. Too much to name it all here but my base colours are No7 Just Black, Cult Nails Time Traveler (Whovian bonus, woo!) and Revlon Bordeaux. I freehanded all of the detail using a nail art brush.
    Polishes worth noting are A-England Excalibur Renaissance, a super opaque silver and the Sweet Color Liner Polish, the perfect white for freehanding although I used a nail art brush, not the liner that’s included.

    The Lacquer Legion On Holiday: Windbreakers

    If you’ve ever spent the day on a British Beach, you might know what I was going for with this mani! I spent many of my childhood summer holidays on beaches along the coast of Devon and Cornwall and have nothing but fond memories of those times so my #LLOnHoliday manicure is paying tribute to an essential piece of beach equipment in the UK – the windbreaker!

    Although I don’t love the nail art – it’s a bit bright and gaudy for my taste – I have so many lovely memories with those windbreakers that I don’t even care! It just makes me happy to look down and be reminded.

    For this nail art, I used a base of NYC Lexington Yellow and then a thin coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl to dry it out nicely.
    I put down a few straight vinyl stencils and painted over everything in NYC Hudson Breeze before removing the stencils right away.
    Finally, I used a long striping brush to add the red details with Rimmel Raw as Night and topped it with a thick coat of HK Girl.

    The Lacquer Legion: Garden. Dainty Daisies.

    When I found out that this month’s Lacquer Legion prompt was Garden, I did just what anyone would do – run out in to the garden and rummage for nail art supplies! I picked a few daisies and the plan was to use the petals in my manicure. After a few failed attempts, I had to abandon that little adventure but I still wanted to go with the daisy idea. I did a similar design to this as part of last year’s 31 Day Challenge so I reworked it with daisies this time around. 
    I used High Brow NP03 as my base colour and started the nail art by freehanding on the white details using Sweet Color White Liner Polish. 
    Using a nail art brush with NYC Lexington Yellow, I painted on the center then added in some little dots of OPI The ‘It’ Color to give it some texture.
    Finally I mixed up Barry M Rose Hip and Barry M Miami to lightly tint the edges of the petals.
    It’s all topped of with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    The Lacquer Legion Glam: Lace Trim Nail Art

    For today’s Lacquer Legion Challenge, Glam, I knew I wanted to do something lacy. Depending how you wear it, lace can be seductive or demure but either way it’s definitely Glam! At first I thought it would be a great idea to freehand something but I quickly chickened out of that and started looking through my stamping plates to see if I had anything suitable. I decided on Konad Plate M71 to give my nails a neat lace trim.

    For this nail art, I used Lacquer Lab Dita as my base. See what I did there? *winky face emoji*

    I stamped on the lace pattern from Konad Plate M71 using W7 Black.

    For the red details, I used Rimmel Heart on Fire with a small nail art brush to fill in the gaps.

    It’s all topped off with a coat of HK Girl top coat.

    The Lacquer Legion: Adoration

    For today’s Lacquer Legion nail art, I kept coming back to this idea of gradient with chevrons peeking through. I’ve only done this kind of nail art once before but every time I come across it on Instagram or Pinterest, I’m reminded how much I truly adore it.
    As far as I’m aware, this nail art was created by Storm and Stars and she has a great tutorial here.

    For these nails, I used Jindie Nails K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) from the upcoming Recover-Me Collection as my base colour.
    I used Barry M White as the base for the nails where I was creating the gradient. I followed Storm and Stars’ tutorial using Jindie Nails K.I.S.S and Collection 2000 Minx to create the gradient.
    For the stamping, I used Bundle Monster Plate BM315 and BK Matte White
    It’s all topped off with a coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

    The Lacquer Legion Reinvention: Glequins… One Year Later

    The first ever day of The Lacquer Legion is upon us, and what a day it promises to be! Along with my fellow Lacquer Legion admins Chalkboard Nails, Work/Play/Polish and Rebecca Likes Nails, we’ll be announcing a new theme every month and today’s theme is Reinvention.
    I must say that like many of you, I was fairly stumped by the prompt at first. After a lot of thinking, I decided to look back to see what I was doing a year ago and see if it was something I could somehow reinvent. It turns out the blog post I published on this day last year was ‘WTF is a Glequin?‘ so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to dive back in to Glequin nail art and ‘reinvent’ it with a more grown up look.

    I used Barry M Burgundy Crush as my base colour.
    One nail at a time, I used one coat of clear nail polish and stuck on the diamond shaped glequins (colours #2 and #5) using a toothpick dipped in clear polish to make it sticky at the end. I actually filmed a tutorial for applying Glequins which you can see on my YouTube channel here!
    It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten and Glow HK Girl to smooth everything over.

    Introducing The Lacquer Legion

    As many of you will know, I’ve undertaken the 31 Day Challenge for 3 years in a row now and I always comment on how much I love the fact that it forces me to come up with plenty of inspired nail art and probably some of my favourite manis ever!
    Of course, doing nail art every day for 31 days is pretty intense and that kind of dedication can only be reserved for once a year! However, I miss the inspiration that it brings and all the nail art creations that I get to see from the amazing ladies also doing the challenge.

    Sarah from Chalkboard Nails was having the same predicament so she took it upon herself to organise a brilliant new initiative – The Lacquer Legion! Alongside Sarah, Leslie (work/play/polish) and Rebecca (Rebecca Likes Nails) I’ll be helping out a bit behind the scenes, giving you reminders each month so you don’t forget and, of course, participating in the challenge!

    Absolutely anyone can join The Lacquer Legion – the more the merrier. There will be one prompt per month, one date that everyone will post and a hashtag to use across social media so that it will be easy to explore everyone’s nail art. This challenge should be fun and easy-breezy for everyone so you don’t have to take part every month, just if and when you fancy it!

    We’re starting with the theme of Reinvention in January and you can interpret this any which way you like!
