31DC2015: Orange Nails with a Chevron Gradient

    Orange Gradient Chevron Nail Art

Day 2 of the challenge calls for Orange nails and again I’ve opted for a fairly standard orange mani with a bit of fun sandwiched in to the middle. Does peach count as an orange shade? I sure hope so because I find it far more flattering against my pale skin tone than brighter shades of orange.

    The Nail Polish

First I laid down three coats of China Glaze Peachy Keen and three coats of Barry M Coconut where I was prepping for the chevrons. That was all topped with Glisten & Glow HK Girl to make it dry.

Once that was solid as a rock, I went ahead and applied some of the Skinny Zig Zag Tape from Whats Up Nails over the Coconut. I created the gradient using Seventeen Bright Peach and piCture pOlish Totes. Scroll to the end of the post for a video on that!

Be My, Be My Baby (Blue)

I had one of those amazing Sundays where I just got everything done that I wanted to. I did so much cleaning and even went grocery shopping! Most weekends I completely sloth out but I must admit it always feels great on Sunday night when I know I don’t have a pile of laundry still waiting to be done.
Today’s nails have a lot going on but they still look nice and simple. I always underestimate the power of polka dots. I love these miniature ones so much, I must do them more often!

I used Rimmel Aqua Cool as my base colour and added a black and white glitter, Seventeen Graffiti in Monochrome, on my thumb and middle finger.
Using BK Matte White I did the polka dots using a dotting tool and then stamped on the baroque/fleur de lis design from MoYou Tourist Collection 07 stamping plate.
It’s all topped off with two coats of Color Club top coat.
In case you have your eye on any of their plates, MoYou have been kind enough to offer a discount code for me to share! Enter SAMMY20 on the ‘Cart’ page (before you go to the checkout) on their site to get 20% off your first purchase. Just make sure you’re signed in otherwise the code won’t work.
I should mention that MoYou ship worldwide and shipping within the UK is completely free!

31DC2013 Day 7: Black and White Nails

There’s no doubt that I really packed as much black and white in to this nail art as I possibly could! The plan was just to create a gradient in grayscale but it didn’t look as smooth as I’d hoped – it was kind of speckly – so I added the black and white glitter to try and disguise the fail! I think this teeters just on the edge of ‘over the top’. It’s a nice effect but there is a lot going on!

I started with a base coat of Barry M White and created the gradient by painting W7 Black, Rimmel Grey Matter, Sally Hansen Dorian Grey and Barry M White on to a sponge and dabbing it on a few times over.
The black and white glitter is Seventeen’s Off The Wall Graffiti which I picked up in Boots recently for a bargain price of £2.99.
Finally, I topped it all off with two coats of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly.
