    Press Play

Since I was 16, I’ve had a pair of headphones almost permanently attached to my person. Whenever I’m on my own, I put them in my ears and disappear in to my own little world. The best mp3 player I ever had was a Creative Zen Micro. Does anyone remember those?!
I actually had a total of four in my time, one in almost every colour, because I’m a klutz and I break pretty much every piece of technology I touch! Even when they stopped manufacturing them, I’d be straight on eBay scouring for a new one as soon as mine bit the bullet. You can even still buy them! The symbols on the touchpad glowed blue and that’s the inspiration behind today’s manicure.
I used China Glaze Tart-y For The Party as my base colour. The dark purple details are Barry M Blackberry and I outlined them in Calvin Klein Blue Wants to be a Millionaire.
The glitter on my ring finger is La Femme Purple Glitter and I did the stripes on my pinky by applying a few strips of striping tape, then painting over them using the Barry M and quickly peeling them off.
It’s all finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 9… Christmas Pudding

The meal is the part I’m most looking forward to this Christmas. I can’t wait to sit around the table with my family and fill myself with the traditional Christmas spread! We won’t actually be having Christmas pudding, instead favouring Apple Crumble and custard. So to make up for that – I’ll be wearing them on my nails!
My base colour is Avon’s Deluxe Chocolate and I used Sally Hansen Insta Dry Whirlwind white for the icing. The leaves are BYS Fern and the berries are La Femme Cherry Red (4th day running!).
I used a top coat of NYC CLassy Glassy to finish.

Lana Del Rey Inspired Nail Art

The video for Lana Del Rey’s new single, Born To Die, was released on Wednesday and I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been listening to the song on repeat ever since I first heard it (apart from the hours I spent at work or sleeping). This chick is just gorgeous and she’s my hair idol. Mine WILL look like that one day!
Lana’s nails in the video are so sexy. These were the best screen shots I could get of the nails but you can watch the stunning video in full here.
I used Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude as a base then freehanded the chevrons with La Femme Cherry Red (3rd day in a row I’ve used this shade!) using a striping brush.
I used Barry M Gold Foil with a smaller striping brush to freehand the gold lines.
If you don’t have steady, line drawing hands, you can use scotch tape to mark off the area you want to paint red, just make sure your base colour is completely dry before you go sticking tape on your nails.

No Animals Were Harmed in the Making of This Post

This amazing snakeskin look is Kari‘s brainchild. When she posted it a few months back it quickly spread all over the blogsphere and I fully intended to do it myself but never got round to it.

I was looking through my stamping plates, trying to decide on a design for today’s manicure and I decided that I wanted to use a plate I hadn’t used before. I still have a few of the 25pc Bundle Monster plates that still have the blue plastic covering on so it had to be one of those. I spotted this plate in the pile with it’s shiny blue protective layer still attached and Kari’s snakeskin idea came flooding back to me!

    Blue Blood

Last night (or rather this morning) I didn’t get to sleep until after the sun came up! If anyone’s ever done that, don’t tell me it’s not an amazing feeling. I went out in town then watched Napoleon Dynamite and couldn’t sleep until 5.30. I don’t know why I’ve shared that with you today. It’s completely unrelated to anything but I guess I just want to say everyone should do it more often! I’m very much a night person. I’d much rather sleep all day and be awake all night.

I used scotch tape to mark off the edges of the nails and painted on two coats of Barry M Blue Glitter .

    McCreamy

I picked up this beautiful grey polish from La Femme in a £1 shop today. I spotted the display of polishes and zoned in on them. Most of the colours were not really my kind of thing – a lot of metallics and pale shimmery shades – but I spotted this one at the back and bought it thinking it might be good for stamping since it looked creamy and pigmented.
I haven’t put it to the stamping test yet but I think it looks great on it’s own. It is a gorgeous creamy polish that is perfect in two coats. The only down side to this polish is the brush. It’s kind of stiff so it leaves streak marks but they do settle themselves – it’s just annoying. Nothing I can complain about considering it was such a bargain.

Did anyone make the connection between today’s colour and the post title?!

    Flower Power

You may notice that my post is a little later than normal today. I spent most of my day at the house I am renting this year and shopping for decor to go inside it!
I was a bit disappointed when I first moved my stuff in as it hadn’t been cleaned properly and had a miserable feel to it, I think because it was empty and really seemed hollow. But now that me and the other girls are filling it with stuff and making it a bit more homely, I think it looks and feels much nicer.
I also received some great news last night. I passed the exam I had to resit last month so I get to progress to the next year of my course! Phew! I’m sooo happy now!
