    Meet The Necklasaurus

I have never ever been this excited about a piece of jewellery before! I first found this amazing specimen in Slashpile Designs’ Etsy shop way back in September last year and couldn’t get it out of my mind since. I shopped around for other possible mascots but always came back round to this one. It’s just so ‘me’… minimalist but detailed. I finally decided to cough up some cash and just go for it and boy oh boy was it worth it!
Slashpile Designs is the creation of sisters Tara and Courtney and if you like interesting jewellery, you should most definitely go and have a browse. I especially love their 1 ‘Carrot’ diamond ring!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever told the story of my blog name before and I think now would be a perfect time seeing as it’s also my 750th post! I started going by ‘Sammersaurus’ online when I joined MySpace close to a decade ago, maybe 2004-05, and I honestly can’t remember how I came up with it.
A few years later, I was watching ‘Meet The Robinsons’ with my family and one particular scene involving a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a ‘big head and little arms’ (video here) tickled me and my Dad. I’m slightly below average height and often can’t reach things that are high up so the Saurus name kind of stuck and ‘I’ve only got little arms’ has become a running joke in the family!
When I decided to create a nail blog, I didn’t have to think about the name at all. I knew from the start it would be The Nailasaurus and to this day I still love the name, even if I do have to spell it out every time I tell someone.
Now that I’m talking about it, I realise it’s kind of a strange name! What did you think when you first came across this blog and saw that title?!

I used A-England Lancelot as the black base colour and then freehanded on the T-Rex using a nail art brush with Barry M Silver Foil.
The chain design is a stamp from Bundle Monster Plate BM12 but the links on the stamp all have gaps in so I filled them in with the Barry M Silver Foil.
The glitter is Cirque French Roast and I used 3 coats of it over a base of PVA Glue for easy peel removal!
It’s all topped off with two coats of NYC In a New York Minute top coat.

    Happy Halloween!

I’ve been so busy recently but I managed to fit in some time for a Halloween manicure! Last night, I carved my first pumpkin and I wasn’t planning anything special tonight but a few friends and I have decided to go out. I have a red cape and some devil horns and that’s about as far as my dress up skills stretch!
I also have some news about my lighting. Well, not news so much but here’s the story… my desk lamp which is the one I use for photographing my nails too has been on it’s death bed for a while and finally popped it’s clogs a few days ago. Finding a new lamp became priority number one and my Mum recommended I find out what Argos are selling. Turns out that lamp was in fact from Argos and they still sell it. Oh, and it’s a bargain! It’s £19.99 and comes in Black and Silver
I never knew the source of my magical lamp before because I just found it lying around in the house. When I used to get questions about it, all I could say was it’s a fluorescent desk lamp but now you know the gory details!

My thumb is A-England Lancelot as a base and the cobweb from Bundle Monster plate BM13 with Barry M Silver Foil.
The blood drips were created with OPI Samoan Sand as a base colour and Cult Nails Quench applied with a nail art brush to create the drips.
The haunted house and pumpkin are from Bundle Monster plate BM305 and stamped using W7 Black. The orange is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed and the yellow is NYC Lexington Yellow*.

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 5… This Old Thing

Today’s Christmas nails are inspired by the always favourite tacky Christmas jumper! Enjoy!

I used Barry M Raspberry as my base colour then shuffled through all my plates to find some Christmassy designs and settled on Bundle Monster plates BM205 and BM14 stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White.
I used white acrylic paint for the little details and also to colour in a few of the stamped designs to make them ‘pop’!

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 1

It’s December! My countdown to Christmas has officially started and I’ll be documenting it on my nails (of course!). It’s my plan to post 12 Holiday themed manicures before Santa pays a visit . Apologies in advance if I don’t manage to post 12 but I’ll try my best!

I used A-England Galahad* as a base and sponged on Barry M Blue Glitter from the tips. I stamped the snowflake from Bundle Monster plate BM14 and finished it with a rhinestone and a top coat of NYC.

Day 21: Inspired by a Colour

Today’s criteria is a bit of an odd one. I couldn’t decide if it meant inspired by an actual colour or inspired by a shade name or even something else completely that I didn’t pick up on! In the end I decided to rummage through my stash to see if any of the colour names inspired me and this Rimmel polish, Purple Reign, gave me an idea straight away.

I decided to make a mani from the name and stamp crowns on my nails. Get it? Purple REIGN 😉

Head over to see whar Cristina and Rie came up with today.

    Would You Buyasaurus?

I’ve been thinking for a while about painting my own nail sets and selling them. Last week, I finally got round to ordering some sets after the lovely Paige gave me a link to a good seller on eBay. I need to do a bit more research about pricing etc. but I’m trying to gage whether anyone would be interested in buying my sets. They will mostly be freehand designs but I’ll take personalised orders for any nail design you’ve ever seen on this blog! So… would anyone consider buying a set of nails from me?
