Day 31: Recreate Your Favourite Challenge (Double Feature)

Today, the 31 Day Challenge comes to an end for Me, Rie and Cris. There’s been some ups and downs but I’ve loved the whole experience. It will be nice to go back to posting whatever I want when I want but I’m slightly afraid that I’ve forgotten how to create manicures without a list to follow!
Cris, Rie and I were discussing what ‘Recreate Your Favourite Challenge’ actually means and in the end we just decided to recreate our favourite challenge from each others’ previous 30 days.

It’s a long post so you can see more after the jump…

From Rie’s challenge, I wanted to recreate her ‘Inspired by Fashion’ nails. She was inspired by some incredible Alexander McQueen shoes. To see and Rie’s mani and the shoes that inspired it, click here.
I love Rie’s mani because it translate the shoe perfectly on to her nails. The finished look is so simple and elegant which is everything I look for in a manicure.
I used E.L.F Innocence as a base and I don’t have the same Konad plate she used so I went for a design from one of my fauxnad plates which I stamped with Barry M Grey first, then Barry M Silver Foil. I sponged on a little silver glitter and added a top coat of NYC, et voila!

From Cris, I decided on her Flower nails from Day 14. She used a combination of stamping, freehand and dotting to create a beautiful vibrant manicure. Click here to see her mani.
I love Cris’s flower mani because every time I look at it I can’t help but feel a little warmer inside. It gives me a much needed reminder of summer now that the winter is kicking in.
I used A-England Galahad as a base and Wet n Wild white for stamping with BM12. For the detail on the flowers, I used Collection 2000 Spangles and Rimmel Funky Diva. The Rhinestones are from Viva La Nails, and of course I used NYC Top Coat to finish it all off.

Don’t forget to head over to Cristina and Rie‘s blogs to see four more manicures today! I really cannot wait to see them!

    Gold Flowers

I’m back!! It’s been over a week since I’ve posted a konadicure and nearly as long since I even put one on. It’s just been bananas here with starting back at Uni last Monday and all the other fun stuff that goes with it. Anyway, enough excuses – here is a mani from just before I went out of action.

    ♪♫ Hold Me Real Close…

… clap me in irons. Come on Caligulove me.
My computer keeps warning me that a ‘hard disk failure is imminent’ so I may be out of action for a while. I have a new one on the way and once it’s in, service will resume as normal!
Also. I’m going on a short break this weekend which is when my giveaway ends, so the winner will be announced some time next week. So if you haven’t entered yet, you have until then. If my computer blows up in that time, you might have a bit longer :D!!

My polish budget for the year ahead…

I have decided to set myself a Polish budget from now on. I’m not allowed to spend more than £5 each month on nail polish and I’m going to try to stick to this for at least a year.
Buying polish is my vice these days – whatever shop I go into, even the supermarket, I’m always on the prowl for polish and it’s breaking the bank! Not to mention taking up a lot of space.
Being a jobless student, I just can’t afford to go on the way I am, so I have to stick to this goal. It’s not unobtainable because I’m tight with my money as it is and never really spend more than £2.50 for a polish, so I could realistically buy about two new shades a month.
I have been keeping a record (as of last week) and have so far spent £11.50!! So not the best start, but I’m easing myself into it!
When I think about it, £10 in two weeks adds up to £260 a year!!! 😮 That’s a shock to the system. That’s a month’s rent for me, with some quids left over for the weekends! So… I’m going to write down every polish purchase from now on and hope I have the willpower to cut down my purchasing.

    Happy 4th of July…

.. to all of the readers in America!
I went to see Eclipse today. How good is it??!! I have read all the Twilight books and like them enough. I just haven’t really liked the films THAT much so far. But this one was definitely my favourite of the three.
It’s a good film on its own, without the ‘Twilight’ thing which is good.
I put it down to David Slade, the director. It was just so more original than the other two. And the flashback and dream sequences were communicated really well.
I just don’t understand this Twilight Mania. Well, maybe I do understand it, but I think it’s pretty silly myself. People sometimes take it a bit too far.

Sorry there was no post yesterday. I got barred from the Internet!
In my university residences (I think it’s ‘dorms’ in America), if you try to use Peer to Peer software like Vuze, or any other bit torrent – you get your internet access suspended for an hour.
Since the Vuze logo is really similar to the Photoshop one, I clicked on that by accident and got myself locked out just as I was getting ready to post this 🙁 It’s not even the first time I’ve done that either, haha.
Last night I went to see 4.3.2.1 which is AMAZING. Got to be the best British film I’ve seen in ages. Definitely worth a watch. And the soundtrack was really cool too so I’m gonna get that a.s.a.p.
Anyway, there should be another post later if I can control my clicks tonight and avoid another ban.
I know this look really similar to yesterday’s colour but I promise it’s different!
