12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 9… Christmas Pudding

The meal is the part I’m most looking forward to this Christmas. I can’t wait to sit around the table with my family and fill myself with the traditional Christmas spread! We won’t actually be having Christmas pudding, instead favouring Apple Crumble and custard. So to make up for that – I’ll be wearing them on my nails!
My base colour is Avon’s Deluxe Chocolate and I used Sally Hansen Insta Dry Whirlwind white for the icing. The leaves are BYS Fern and the berries are La Femme Cherry Red (4th day running!).
I used a top coat of NYC CLassy Glassy to finish.

    Awesome Aztec

I am now in love with freehand nail art! It takes longer and is not as ‘perfect’ looking as stamping but there is so much more you can do with it. That’s not to say I will be freehanding my nails all the time because there just aren’t enough hours in the day but it’s definitely something I’m going to keep playing with whenever inspiration strikes.
Today’s idea, once again, comes from Marina at Forever The Ugly Duckling. She just has too many great ideas! She suggested I try an Aztec pattern so I did some searching for a reference and found this pair of printed leggings which I based my design on.

I used Avon Chocolate as a base and GOSH Metallic Blue for the patterns and topped it off with a coat of NYC In a New York Minute top coat. The brush I used is from this set available from the Born Pretty Store.

At Least It Will Keep Growing

I have some exciting news that I’ve been meaning to mention for ages but keep forgetting for one reason or another. I hope I don’t sound too big headed for telling you, but one of my pictures that I posted on Tumblr has nearly 150 notes! It’s still astounding to me that people find my simple little manicures attractive, or even inspiring.
In other news, I bleached my hair today. I felt like a change from the dark brown that I’ve been sporting for a few years and decided to go for light brown, think caramel. So I bleached it out today but even after 50 minutes of bleach, it’s still quite dark and there’s still plenty of red in it. I would describe the colour as auburn. The bulk of it is a very nice shade and I’d be happy to leave it but it’s really patchy in some places and my roots are blonde due to the heat from my scalp speeding up the bleaching  process.
So yep – I have blonde roots and ginger hair. I’m just going to put my caramel brown dye over the top in the morning and pray for the best.

    A New Chrome Discovery

Hey guys! I know I’ve been M.I.A. for a few days, other than my constant twitter moaning, but it’s exam period in Uni at the moment and I have 4 exams to study for. I got the first one out of the way this morning so I felt I deserved a break from revision and stressing to do my nails properly.
A few weeks ago, I saw swatches of a chrome polish from Avon at Goose’s Glitter. I know how amazing chromes are for stamping and since I know Avon is a brand I can get my hands on here in the UK, I started my treasure hunt to get my hands on a bottle.
Avon aren’t actually selling this on their website or in the book, but I found a few bottles on eBay and eventually won the bidding on this one at a good price. It popped through my door on Saturday but due to my lack of studying last week, my weekend was crammed full of it so I had no time to play with my new polish.
So today, as a reward to myself for all my work, I went a bit overboard with manicuring. I painted my nails about 5 different colours today before I was happy!
