    31 Day Challenge: Rainbow Nails

Rainbow Half Moon Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

In the words of Chris Traeger, these are LITERALLY.. the best rainbow nails I’ve ever painted! This was the only nail art I had in my head when I took up the challenge and it turned out exactly how I pictured. I was doubtful about the freehanded rainbows but once I got past a few wobbles, it was easy enough and everything balanced out nicely in the end.
I started with a Base of Barry M Blueberry.
I stamped on the clouds using a Konad knockoff plate from Born Pretty Store (M79) and BK Matte White.
For the rainbows, I used a nail art brush with 6 different shades:
Purple: Rimmel Keep Calm & Party
    Blue: Models Own Asscher Blue
Green: Rimmel Keep Calm & Play
Yellow: Rimmel Cute as a Kitten Heel
Orange: China Glaze Mimosas Before Manis
    Red: Rimmel Mars
It’s all topped off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    31 Day Challenge: Metallic

31 Day Challenge Metallic Nails // The Nailasaurus

I’m really pleased with the way my metallic nails turned out today. I wasn’t sure if the silver and blue would contrast enough to even show up but the addition of gold just pulls everything together and the outlines are the perfect accent.

    1. For this nail art, I used a base of Illamasqua Caress
    2. I painted on a silver strip on each nail using A-England Excalibur Renaissance with the brush straight from the bottle.

    3. Once that was dry, did the same with Barry M Gold Foil.
    4. When everything was dry, I used Sweet Color White Liner to outline the details.
    5. It’s all topped off with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

31 Day Challenge: Black and White

Black and White Gradient Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Kids, don’t rush your gradients! I sped through this one today and the result is a speckly mess. It actually looks pretty awesome from far away, but I’m not fooling anyone with these photos. Idea: solid. Execution: poor!
Once you have the technique down, having the patience to wait between layers is the most challenging part of any gradient mani. Sometimes you’ll get away with it but most of the time it’ll end up taking a turn for the worse and looking something like this. The colours aren’t blended very well, there are sponge marks and the polish has even started coming off the tips from my overzealous dabbing! I really like the look of the grey to white gradient but next time I’ll make sure I use a thinner white polish and wait for each layer to dry thoroughly before moving on to the next.
Instead of redoing the whole lot for today’s post, I thought it might be good to post it as I never really show you my nail art fails. There have been plenty of them, but I normally remove them before anyone sees and try to forget they ever happened!

    31 Day Challenge: Violet

Essie Go Ginza Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

For Day 6 of the challenge, we have to create Violet nails but I have always taken that to mean purple in general. Nevertheless, I’ve embraced it today and even used a polish with Violet in the name!
To create this harlequin look, I created my own decal using a stamping plate and stamper. I picked up the diamond design from MoYou Hipster 08 with BK Matte White and left it on the stamper. Next, I used a nail art brush to fill in the diamonds using a few purple shades. After a few minutes, I coated it with a thin layer of clear nail polish and once that was dry, I peeled it all off the stamper in one piece and placed it on my nail. There’s a video tutorial here if you want to see the method in action. The other chevron design is stamped from the same plate with The Lacquer Lab Ultra Violet.

    31 Day Challenge: Blue

Turquoise Nail Art with piCture pOlish Fool's Gold

I had a total fangirl freak out when Oh My Gosh, Polish! posted a beautiful turquoise mani with my piCture pOlish shade, Fool’s Gold, a few days ago. You can see that masterpiece right here. She mentioned that it was the perfect shade for a turquoise mani as there’s already gold in the polish, so you can skip a step when doing the nail art.
With today’s Blue prompt coming up, I thought I’d do my best to recreate the turquoise manicure. I have tried before and always failed miserably but this time went a little better. I had to do a bit of trial and error to find a nail polish and spray combination that worked but then I was away. It’s a little heavier on the black than I would have liked but I’ll keep trying with different combinations until I get it just right!
You can watch Oh My Gosh, Polish!’s tutorial for this nail art on her YouTube channel. I just love the way ‘Nailasaurus’ sounds in the Australian accent. It’s quite a novelty to hear it spoken by anyone as whenever I talk about it with people IRL, they normally refer to it as ‘your blog’ and I always say ‘my blog’. I know it’s a bit of a mouthful so maybe people avoid saying it in front of me in case they mess it up. I pronounce it nail-uh-sore-us but there’s really no wrong way to say it!

    31 Day Challenge: Green

Sally Hansen Green Tea Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Does anyone remember my last post that fetured this amazing mint green from Sally Hansen? In ‘The Trouble With Bargains‘ I got all emosh because the bottle was running low and I couldn’t find a new one anywhere. You guys came to the rescue and found it listed on eBay and I snapped it up right away! A big, huge thank you to everyone that took time out of their day to find my beloved Green Tea!
I’m changing course today without a single sighting of glitter or matte. There’s even a little bit of nail art in here! Admittedly, I was going to go with a green jelly sandwich but then I remembered how amazing pastel purple goes with mint green and came up with this simple solution to wear the two together.

    31 Day Challenge: Yellow

Lynnderella Golden Rules over NYC Lexington Yellow // The Nailasaurus

Well so far, so good with the challenge! I did have to to make it brief yesterday and I won’t keep you too long today either. I think this is the only yellow in my collection that I’m actually happy to wear on its own and one of the few yellows I’ve ever used that will even stand on its own without a white base.
It looks really bright in the pictures but it’s not quite so radioactive in real life. I topped it with a very special Lynnderella glitter which I inherited from a polish loving acquaintance recently (more to come on that soon) and a matte top coat = cool level through the roof. Rarely does a glitter ever look bad with a matte finish!
