Week of Geek Day 3: Autobots, transform and roll out!

Maybe it’s not credible to like Transformers since it’s now a multi million dollar franchise but I really like the films. Robot fighting, explosions and amazing CGI, what’s not to love?! I saw the third film yesterday. The 3D is stunning and the action sequences are much better than in the last two films because you can actually see them Transforming instead of it being a blur of metal and camera cuts. It’s very long and it kind of drags towards the end but it still gets a thumbs up from me!
I posted a picture of these nails incomplete on Twitter to see if anyone could guess the theme and Jenni said that she saw Darth Vader in there and she is so right. Check out the middle picture and tell me that an upside down Autobots logo doesn’t look like Darth Vader’s mask!
Pinky to thumb: ‘T’ for Transformers, Bumblebee colours, Autobots logo, Optimus Prime colours, Decepticons logo.
    I used:
W7 – Black, Collection 2000 – Moonlight Shine, NYC Glossies – 243B, George – Natural White (under the yellow), Go – Shade 4, George – Scarlet Kiss.

Week of Geek Day 2: Gotta Catch Em’ All (Pokeball Nails)

Today’s geeky nails are Pokeballs! I have to stress that this is not my original idea, I saw these somewhere on the internet but it wasn’t on a blog. If anyone knows the origin of this design, please drop a link so I can credit the person that thought up this amazing piece of nail art. I like giving credit where credit’s due and I think there is definitely some deserved here!

    I used:
George – Natural White, NYC Nail Glossies – 223, W7 – Black, Stargazer – White. Also scotch tape and a dotting tool.

Week of Geek Day 1: Marvel Nail Art

Hello everyone and welcome to the Week of Geek!
I do not profess myself to be a real geek but I have some geeky tendencies. I’m always making a fool out of myself by making obscure sci-fi references in a room full of people that have never even seen Star Wars and I can easily spend a whole evening reading Marvelpedia. So I decided to dedicate a week of Nail Art to geeky stuff.
I’ll start the week with some Marvel inspired nail art. I’ve tried to stay true to the comics as much as possible by using some of the iconic imagery related to each character. From pinky to thumb, the heroes are; Spiderman, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron Man and Captain America.
Iron Man is definitely my favourite nail. It took freakin ages but I still wish I’d done a while hand of just his face!
It’s all freehanded except for the star in Captain America’s shield which I stamped from Bundle Monster plate BM05 and then painted over.

Here is every single polish I used:
Spiderman: George – Bloom and Scarlet Kiss. Stargazer – White under the red.
Hulk: Collection 2000 Hot Looks – Martian and BYS – Fern mixed for the base. Rimmel – Blue My Mind for the shorts.  La Femme – Grey Cream for the muscles.
Wolverine: George – Natural White as a base. Go – Shade 04. Barry M Cyan Blue. W7 – Black. Collection 2000 – Moonlight Shine.
Iron Man: George – Natural White as a base. Go – Shade 04. George – Scarlet Kiss. W7 Black. Collection 2000 – Moonlight Shine. La Femme – Grey Cream.
Captain America: Barry M – Cyan Blue and George – Bloom mixed together for the base. Stargazer – White for the star and ring. George – Scarlet Kiss for the rings.

    Nautical Nails

I’ve been looking for a nice navy blue polish for months since I caught on to the nautical trend for summer and after finally finding one yesterday, I was inspired to create a nautical nail look. I found this bargain in Asda as part of their George Make Up range for £1 (normally £1.75), the colour is Bloom.
I used some really old Collection 2000 polishes for the white and light gold, they don’t even have names. The red is Barry M Raspberry and for the Anchor, I used Sally Hansen Chrome in Amber. I’m running perilously low on this so if anyone knows any gold/bronze chromes that I can get my hands on in the UK, please please please let me know because I’m getting desperate!

    Blink 182 Nail Art

Blink 182 may just be my favourite band ever. Not in a crazy, superfan way – it’s just that I’ve been listening to their music for years and years and I never get fed up of hearing it. I was supposed to be seeing them play in July but the tour was postponed since they haven’t finished recording the new album. The gig’s been postponed a year, yeah you heard me right, 12 months! WTF guys?! But whatever, I’m not gonna stop loving them because of that. So I thought I’d pay tribute the best way I know how… on my nails.

Here’s a better one of my thumb, it’s at a

funny angle in all the other shots.

If you want to know any of the products or techniques used, just leave a comment and I’ll reply below.

    Sitting, Waiting, Swishing

I want to thank everyone for the amazing response I had to my recent EOTD post. You all seemed to like it so I’m looking forward to doing more in the future. You also reminded me that it’s my blog so I should basically post what I want which is something I sometimes forget and I then start worrying about the fact that I’m not a nail art machine when there’s no reason to get all stressed out about it!
I don’t really have much of an opinion on these nails and I wasn’t even going to post this because I really can’t make up my mind about them. I don’t dislike the mani but I’m not in love with it either! I think it’s kind of ‘pretty’ but just not something I’m used to seeing on my nails, it’s a strange feeling!
Base Colour: Glo Baby Glo from Primark – Fondant
Stripe Colours: BYS in Glittering Purple and Rimmel I ♥ Lasting Finish in Azure
I used a striping brush to paint on the ‘swishes’

Have you voted for me in the Bundle Monster competition today? I hate shamelessly nagging and pestering you all but it would be really lovely if you could click over to the competition and give me a thumbs up! Just click here or here. Thanks!!

    20 Candles

I turned twenty today. It’s kind of momentus but disappointing at the same time. I’m no longer a teenager, I am a fully qualified ‘adult’ which I suppose is okay, but I sure am gonna miss being a teenager and getting away with all the things you can before you reach this age. Only five years ago, I was looking up at twenty-somethings and thinking, ‘Woooooooow, look how old and responsible they are’ but now it’s me and I still feel like a 13 year old inside, but I suppose it’ll always be that way.
So the nails are a cake and candles!
    Thumb:
George @ Asda – Natural White
Collection 2000 Hot Looks – Dynasty
    BYS – Astro Gold
    Nails Inc – Victoria
    Fingers:
Rimell Lycra Wear – Black Satin
    Stargazer – White
    Sally Hansen Chrome – Amber

I used nail art brushes to freehand the candles and a dotting tool for the flames.
