    Christmas Nail Mashup!

Another December day, another Christmas manicure! As you all predicted I couldn’t keep my nails away from the festivities for too long. These are the nails I did for the Christmas ‘Do’ at work. I think the phrase ‘Christmas Do’ is a very British thing. In the US, you’d just call it a Christmas Party right? Or do you have another name for it?

My base colour is Barry M White. For the candy cane nails, I used one coat of Seche Vite before marking off striped sections with thin cuts of scotch tape and painted on Rimmel Heart on Fire. While that was still wet I peeled off the scotch tape and, once dry, used a nail art brush to paint Barry M Red Glitter over the stripes.

The Rudolph nail is one from last year. I used Essie Glamour Purse as the base colour, Rimmel Desire for the lines and Barry M Red Glitter again for the nose.
Finally, the Christmas Tree which was inspired by a Wacky Laki manicure was created using glequins from Born Pretty Store (tutorial here).
I topped it all off with two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it over.

    Wrap Me Up

I think this will be my last Christmas themed nail art for a while. I say that like I’m drowning you in them, but this is only the fourth! I’m really struggling to come up with fresh ideas, I really don’t know how I came up with 12 of them last year! It’s weird to look back at those and see how much my skills have improved since then. What a difference a year makes!

For the green nails I used two coats of NYC Flat Iron Green (creme) as a base, then two coats of Sinful Colors Call You Later (glitter). The red nail is one coat of Rimmel Heart on Fire (creme), one coat of Barry M Red Glitter and one coat of Sinful Colors Paris (gold glitter).
Next I used Barry M Gold Foil to stamp on some bows from Bundle Monster plate BM317, then freehanded the ribbon lines with a nail art brush. Then I went over the bows, because they didn’t stamp very well, and outlined everything with black acrylic paint.
All finished with two top coats of NYC.

    Christmas is Coming

It feels like someone flipped a switch yesterday which just made everyone go mental! Suddenly everyone has gone crazy for Christmas so I thought I may as well leap in to the mania head first and get started on some Christmas manis. I’m sure there will be more to come, I just thought I should ease myself in today with something mildly festive!

I started with one coat of PVA Glue (I know it sounds insane, but it makes removing the glitter so much easier). Once that was dry, I used 3 coats of Sally Hansen Gilded Lily* and stamped on a swirly design from Bundle Monster Plate BM314 using Sally Hanses InstaDri in Rapid Red.

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 12… Mash Up

Merry Christmas everybody! The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here and for me it will be over in just over an hour! I had a great time with my family; eating, drinking and Doctor-Who-Watching! I hope you all had a great day and Santa brought you what you wanted. He brought me some very nice things including 8 nail polishes, a new bottle of OPI Nail Envy and some polish thinner – fun and practical all rolled up in a few bottles!
I decided that for my last Christmas manicure I would just do a mash-up of festive nails and I know how much you guys love glitter so I squeezed in plenty of that. Red glitter never fails to get me in the holiday mood!
    Top to bottom:
W7 Blue Lagoon and the snowflake was freehanded with Barry M Silver Foil
Barry M Raspberry with BYS Gold Finger sponged on to the tip
Barry M Matt White with the tree freehanded with BYS Flash Dance, outlined with BYS Fern and decorated with Barry M Lilac Foil
Barry M Red Glitter over an unnamed, unbranded metallic red

What did you all get for Christmas?!

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 11… Festive Glitter Fiasco

Christmas panic began to set in for me today. I still have so many presents to buy and so little time!
I think this mani perfectly represents the manic atmosphere that we can all feel in the air these last few days before the 25th, while still looking quite pretty and festive at the same time!
I used BYS Astro Gold as a base, then sponged on Barry M Red Glitter and BYS Dazzling.

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 10… Christmas Crackers

I can’t believe I almost forgot Christmas Crackers! The best crackers we ever had were a set my Grandmother bought years ago and each one had inside a little whistle which were all different notes and numbered. We had to line up according to the number on our whistle and a elect a ‘conductor’ to attempt to make us play Christmas carols by pointing frantically at the right number from the song sheet! It was a barrel of giggles.

I used Barry M Matt White as a base. The outlines were done using black acrylic paint and I used George Buttercup Shine for the yellow, La Femme Cherry Red and Barry M Gold Foil for all the detailing.

12 Days of Christmas Nails: Day 9… Christmas Pudding

The meal is the part I’m most looking forward to this Christmas. I can’t wait to sit around the table with my family and fill myself with the traditional Christmas spread! We won’t actually be having Christmas pudding, instead favouring Apple Crumble and custard. So to make up for that – I’ll be wearing them on my nails!
My base colour is Avon’s Deluxe Chocolate and I used Sally Hansen Insta Dry Whirlwind white for the icing. The leaves are BYS Fern and the berries are La Femme Cherry Red (4th day running!).
I used a top coat of NYC CLassy Glassy to finish.
