    31 Day Challenge: Glitter

piCture pOlish Pandora // The Nailasaurus

I laid down piCture pOlish Pandora on my nails fully intending to create some glittery nail art over the top. But as soon as I finished, held out my hand and took a second to admire Pandora, I decided it really didn’t need anything extra.
It’s somewhere in between a holographic polish and a glitter. I feel like the chunkier holographic particles push the finished look towards a glitter but it applies (and removes, yay!) incredibly easily like a holo.
I used 3 coats in these swatches with HK Girl Top Coat. This polish is the up to the usual high standards I’ve come to know piCture pOlish for – smooth application, lasting wear and truly stunning, unique looking shades.

    Where to buy Pandora

Pandora is available directly from picturepolish.com.au and their international network of stockists.

    31 Day Challenge: Geometric

Art Deco Striping Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Let’s revisit that old favourite – striping tape – for today’s nail art. Day 16 of the challenge calls for geometric nails so I knew I wanted to do something in an art deco style. You wouldn’t normally expect to see an art deco design in bright blue and green hues but I like that it’s different. Black and gold will never get old, but sometimes it’s good to mix things up a bit. I kept the design nice simple instead of attempting to add more lines at the risk of going overboard and/or ruining the overall look.

I used Rimmel Keep Calm & Play as my base colour with a thin coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl to make it dry quickly.

Next, I placed striping tape with a pair of tweezers where I wanted the green to show through.

I painted over the tape using Barry M Malibu, then immediately removed the tape using the tweezers.

It’s finished off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl to smooth everything over.

    31 Day Challenge: Flowers

Floral Water Decals Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

How many cheat days do you suppose we’re allowed on the 31 Day Challenge? Since I used water decals for this mani, I’ll count today as one of mine!
These are from She Sells Seashells and it’s the first time I’ve ever used all-over water decals so I didn’t really know what to expect. I was really impressed by how easy it was to trim them to the right size and then how smooth they applied. There are a few creases here and there, but nothing too noticeable, and that’s mostly my fault for rushing. What I liked about these was they disintegrated with acetone so it was very easy to clean up around the edges where I didn’t cut them to quite the right size.
For this nail art, I used Essie Go Ginza for my base colour. You definitely need a very light base with these decals.

The water decals are from She Sells Seashells and I topped it off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    31 Day Challenge: Animal Print

Leopard Print Nails // The Nailasaurus

For my my animal print nails, I’ve gone pretty simple with a true classic leopard print stamp from Konad. This is the first stamping plate I ever owned so I have deep feels for the patterns that are on it!
This gold polish from NYC is really great for nail art as it’s good and opaque with a foil finish, rather than chrome, but it is a bit of a nightmare to clean up! I think it’s because it’s sort of like a lgitter in that there are trillions of tiny particles of colour in there which get away from you. I used my DIY Peel Off Base Coat around my nails before stamping in an effort to protect from the worst of it but you can still see little bits around my cuticles that I couldn’t get rid of. I could have scrubbed with a nail brush but I didn’t want to risk scraping off the stamping, since there’s no top coat over it.
I started with a base of Barry M Espresso.
I used a coat of Rimmel Matte Finish to even out the surface as I find the Barry M mattes can sometimes look a bit streaky.
Finally, I stamped the leopard design using NYC Full Metal Jacket with Konad Plate M57.

    31 Day Challenge: Stripes

I’m a day behind on the 31 Day Challenge but determined to catch up over the weekend! These are my stripe nails for Day 12 (yesterday) inspired by Globe & Nail. When I was scrolling through piCture pOlish’s Instagram profile at all the amazing manis created with Nail Vinyls, Emma’s just really stood out to me so I was chuffed when I realised I had everything I would need to recreate it.

31 Day Challenge: Polka Dot Confetti

Polka Dot Confetti Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

Good old polka dots. They’re always so reliable and versatile. You know polka dots have got your back when that water marble isn’t going right or you just can’t get those glequins to stay put! I spent a long time picking out the colours for this final mani because there were a few combos that didn’t make it past the first coat.

I love that it looks like confetti – it just makes me happy. I think it would look even better with a few more bright colours thrown in there too.

For this nail art, I started with a base of Rimmel Lose Your Lingerie.

I added the dots using the smallest dotting tool in my set with Models Own Asscher Blue and Sally Hansen Coral Reef. I alternated between the colours to blend the dots together.

It’s all topped with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

    31 Day Challenge: Gradient Nails

Gradient Nail Art // The Nailasaurus

I think I managed to find a colour combination that I haven’t used yet for today’s gradient. I’ve been on a bit of a blue blue streak since the colour restrictions were lifted and I’m carrying on today. Third time’s lucky as they say!
For this gradient, I used 2true Shade 15 as my base colour, then created the gradient using Rimmel Keep Calm & Party. There’s a gradient tutorial here!
I topped it with a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and then finished off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
