We all like the way glitter looks. Even I like the way it looks and believe me when I say I'm the biggest glitterphobe going! I've linked to this video before, but it really does sum up my feelings towards loose glitter perfectly. As soon as you get one little flake on you, it's everywhere!
Of course, glitter polish is slightly different but it comes with its own difficulties. Most notably it's a pain in the butt to remove. There used to be the foil removal method but recently, people have been talking about a new way to remove it. Well, technically it's a new way to apply it so that it comes off in one swoop. Basically, you just use PVA Glue instead of your base coat. I won't go in to it too much because other brilliant bloggers already have so if you want to know more, you should read these posts at Pretty Purple Polish and Lab Muffin.

I've had these colours from the Sally Hansen Gem Crush Collection* for a while but I've been putting off wearing them because I didn't want the hassle of removal. Now that's not an issue, I couldn't decide which one I to wear, so I just decided on 4 of them! The colours are Glitz Gal (Grey/Silver), Lady Luck (Pink), Be-Jeweled (Purple) and Big Money (Gold).
I used 3 coats of each straight on to my nails and they've given complete coverage. Also... so much sparkle! I topped it off with 2 coats of Seche Vite and it was still a bit bumpy but
You can see how the PVA base works. It lets you peel off pretty much the whole nail of polish in one go. No more scrubbing or soaking. I'll definitely be wearing glitter more often now that I won't have to dread the removal!

Uau. Amazing!!!! Looks so real!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful glitter skittles!!!
ReplyDeleteHow were your nails after you peeled them off? If it works ok without damaging the nails then I will definitely give it a go!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't damage your nails at all.
DeleteWhat an absolutely fantastic idea! I have to try this. I usually won't wear glitter polishes due to hating the removal as well.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI wish the peel off base coat would work so well for me too :)
Have you tried removing the polish after a bath or a shower? I find the prolonged exposure to the warm water assists in the removal for me. I hope it works for you too. :)
DeleteEine traumhafte Seite. Tolle Ideen und Designs - super. Liebe Grüße
ReplyDeleteMy eyes!!! I am a sucker for glitter and glam too. Your nails looks SO yummy!! And the removal method.... O_o Gotta get me some PVA!
ReplyDeleteJust discovered this trick a few weeks ago and it has TOTALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. Saving a FORTUNE in polish remover!!

ReplyDeleteThis is a really great idea! And i love the colours of these glitters :) x
ReplyDeleteDroooooool! Such gorgeous glitter colours! I used PVA and thinks it the most awesome invention to hit the polish world since SecheVite (...yep, seriously) I was worried about damage to nails too Rebekah_ but found it no trouble at all -much better than dragging the glitter back and forth with a cotton pad!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! I love these colors together...it's so awesome that they just popped off!!
ReplyDeleteYay for easy removal! I just use the Essence version but the concept is so great.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, love glitter!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing! I'm totally going to try this myself out too :) Thanks for the tip! Love the glitters too btw :)
ReplyDeleteWhy do polishes look so much better on YOUR nails?! I didn't really care for these polishes in the bottle at the store but they look so pretty on your nails.
ReplyDeletei love glitter!! i usually just layer it on thick and then pick it off...like im doing right now
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Mani!!! Thank you for the tip about PVA. I've not heard that before, anything that helps me wear glitter without having to worry about the hellish removal process gets a big thumbs up from me!! Keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteA x
They are all very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI only own 1 of these, but I want all of them :P Gorgeous on you, Sam <3
ReplyDeleteGlitter skittles?!? Awesome idea! Need to do!
ReplyDeletevery much like the essence peel off base that is available here in germany :)
ReplyDeletei love glitter polish but it is a right fuss to remove, and such a chore when it chips.
ReplyDeletei need this <3
REally sparkly mani! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThe peel off technique sounds practical, but I don't know if it's save for my nails to wear glue on them :P
I believe regular Elmer's school glue is PVA glue and is designed for kids, so it's probably safe.
DeleteI use a Sally Hansen base coat. My glitter polishes peel off like in your photo when I've had them in hot water for a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteI like the glitter skittles! Thanks for linking to my post. :)
ReplyDeleteGLITTER!!!
ReplyDeleteGEEZ, when I put my eyes on the final picture I thought it was your own nails, HAHAHA!!
ReplyDeleteI saw this technique on a brazilian blog I read, but I never tried it. Sounds that really works!! And well, maybe glue is just as safe as some polishes around. Not a big deal, I guess. Gonna try it next time I get the courage to use glitter again, ahahaha!!
