    Raindrop Blue Me Away

On the weekend I had a good streak of nail shopping luck. As you may have seen, I already have some neutral coloured feathers but I’ve been on the lookout for some coloured ones for a very, very long time. I checked in every single craft shop I passed but to no avail. So I was amazed to find a packet of all shapes and colours in Ryman the stationers!
I also spotted the new NYC Foil polishes so I picked up a few from the stand. I knew the foils would be ideal for stamping so I got the Enchanting Fire and Power of Elements foils plus this amazing minted pastel blue called Raindrop. I was immediately drawn to it and I dropped it in to my basket without hesitating! I know a lot of people have complaints about the lasting power of NYC polishes but it’s one of my favourite ranges on the high street. Whenever I see new colours on the stand my eyes nearly pop right out of my skull and for the bargain price, I don’t think there’s much wiggle room for complaints.

I used two coats of NYC Raindrop as my base colour on every nail and added the blue feather to my ring finger following this tutorial. I stamped on the feathers from Bundle Monster Plate BM210 using Barry M Guava. The glitter on my first finger is two coats of Black Cat Lacquer’s minty shimmer We Can Pickle That (over NYC Raindrop).
I finished it all off with a coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

    Stamping with Barry M Gellies!

Today, I got in from work and set about swatching. I’ve swatched 4 colours in one sitting this evening which is definitely a personal record! It’s been a long time since I had a whole evening to dedicate to blogging/nail artz because real life responsibilities have been popping up all over the place. I know they tell you in school not to use this word but the best way I can describe my evening is ‘nice’! I just sat down to paint my nails over and over again with no interruptions and it was nice!
These colours are from a new Barry M collection coming to stores and online towards the end of this month – Gelly Nail Paints. Although they’re not actually ‘jellies’ in the ‘nail polish finish’ sense of the word, I’m still very impressed, particularly with their stamping suitability! Full swatches and reviews coming very soon!

    Would You Believe Me?

If I told you I haven’t worn nail polish for four whole days?! Well it’s the truth, and that’s definitely the longest I’ve gone naked-nailed for at least 3 years! The main reason I never leave the house without polish on my nails is because they were so stained from years of wearing it daily. I sat down on Sunday with a buffing block after witnessing the removal of yellow staining using the buffing method and I finally got rid of all the yellow. My nails are now stain free and ready to see the sunshine.

I’ve been doing some decorating this week (the reason for my long absence), alongside neglecting my nails for a few days so they’ve taken a bit of a battering and I’ve been forced to cut them quite short but I actually really like having super short nails!

    Autumn Is Here… Apparently

Today is the first day this year that I noticed the leaves starting to fall from the trees which reminded me that it’s autumn. Anyone that doesn’t own a calendar could be easily fooled though because I swear it was the warmest weekend we’ve had all year! I heard that Saturday was the warmest October day on record in the UK… ever.
I finally got my hands on the new Barry M Foil Effects in gold. I’ve been needing a new gold stamping polish for a very long time and when I saw the previews of these chrome polishes I was hoping it would be my answer. I wasn’t wrong. The gold is great for stamping and no doubt I’ll be buying the silver soon enough.
I was hoping for a little more contrast between the two colours in this Autumn inspired manicure but I actually love the subtlety of the combination.

    Blue and Green Barry

I feel like I write apologies way too much on here so I promise this will be the last one ever! From now on, I will just post when I post and not feel bad if it was 4 days since I last blogged.
I hate hate hate using artificial light to take my photos but I haven’t had much choice recently as winter is creeping up on us and the days are just so dull. There is a lamp somewhere in my house that I think has a white bulb though so I’m going to find that and see how the two of us get along.

    Shake Me Down

Sorry I haven’t properly got back in to my blogging routine yet. I though that once I finished my exams I would be back to posting regularly but things are still very hectic. Anyway, I’m sure you’re tired of hearing my excuses so I won’t give you any more. Just know that I’m slowly but surely getting my blog-mentum back!
