Ya know, I really like galaxy nails! In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone be like ‘Nah, you know, I just don’t like galaxy nails’, because the truth is Galaxy Nails are BOMB! Over the years, I’ve created countless incarnations of nebula nails (which you can see here) and I thought it was about time to revisit them. You can also see a tutorial here – these are in pastel but the same concept applies.

I’ve been excited about getting to the Galaxy Nails from Day 1 and I knew I was going to use Fool’s Gold as my base. It’s definitely not meant to be a realistic representation, but I think abstract galaxy nails are some of the prettiest.
For the Nails…
I used piCture pOlish Fool’s Gold as my base colour. I sponged on piCture pOlish Totes, A-England Let Me In and Barry M Coconut for the galaxy effect.
No galaxy nail at is complete without a sprinkling of China Glaze Fairy Dust so I applied a thin coat of that before freehanding and dotting on the stars using White Acrylic Paint.
Finally I finished it off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

It’s happening! I’m finally catching up with the challenge! When I got myself in to this, I knew this year would be more trying than ever before and although I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself to complete the challenge, that doesn’t mean I don’t still feel the pull every day to stick to the schedule and OWN this thing!
So far I’ve only fallen two days behind and I’m confident that this weekend I’ll be able to catch up and get back on track. After today, I need to step my game up for some of the more creative challenges. I think almost everyone that takes the 31 Day Challenge lives in fear of the dreaded ‘Day 20: Water Marble’ prompt and I count myself among them. I’ve had a few mildly successful water marble attempts this year so I’m going in with my head held high and I refuse to let it beat me this time around. See you on the other side!

Once again I’ve found myself drawn towards the bold pairing of turquoise and pink. When I saw Wondrously Polished’s pastel galaxy nails I knew I’d have to imitate – they were so awe inspiring and I just couldn’t stop staring! I like knowing in my heart that galaxy nails will never fail me. Whenever I feel a bit uninspired, wearing galaxy nails for a few days can rekindle my love for nail art and spark new ideas.
Lindsey wrote a great tutorial for this galaxy look over at The Hunt so I’d urge you to check that out if you’re looking for some pointers.

It’s kind of late in the day but I finally got around to doing my Star Wars nail art. It’s been impossible to avoid the fact this year with all the news about the upcoming film so there was no way I was going to forget like I did last year!
I’ve done Star Wars nail art before (see that here) so I didn’t want to repeat myself this time around. I opted for a few galaxy nails and everyone’s favourite show stealing droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Whenever I’m a little low on nail art inspiration, I always come back to galaxy nails. As long as I try it with a new set of colours, I always feel like I’m doing something new although I may have gone a little overboard on the shimmery polishes this time!
I used Different Dimension Give Me Love as the base colour with piCture pOlish Swagger, Different Dimension Lucky, piCture pOlish Pirouette and Sally Hansen Lively Lilac for the sponging. There’s a galaxy nail art tutorial here.
