Ya know, I really like galaxy nails! In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone be like ‘Nah, you know, I just don’t like galaxy nails’, because the truth is Galaxy Nails are BOMB! Over the years, I’ve created countless incarnations of nebula nails (which you can see here) and I thought it was about time to revisit them. You can also see a tutorial here – these are in pastel but the same concept applies.
I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself lately to come up with something super cool, funky and original but sometimes you just can’t beat the classics. Am I right?
For The Nail Art
1. My base colour is the dark plum purple, OPI William Tell Me About OPI.
2. To create the galaxy effect, I used Barry M White, OPI I Manicure For Beads, OPI Purple Palazzo Pants and just a touch of NYC Lavender Blossom. All applied with a tiny piece of torn off cosmetic sponge. See the tutorial for that visual! The trick to get the really detailed look is layers. I went through the colours once, then started the process again, even applying a little of the base colour to add some depth to the galaxy effect.
3. The last thing to do is dab on a little bit of China Glaze Fairy Dust and paint on some stars using White Acrylic Paint with a tiny nail art brush and dotting tool.
4. It’s all finished with a coat of Seche Vite Top Coat.
