It snowed on Friday. And when I say it snowed, I mean it SNOWED! By the afternoon, I had a six inch coating of snow on my car, I've never seen that much snow in my life.
Of course, snow is pretty and stuff but here in the UK it shuts everything down - the schools close people can't get to work etc. Because we never get more than 3 good days of snow a year, no one really bothers to take too many precautions other than buying up all the bread and milk in sight, and maybe throwing salt all over their driveway! We're all quit happy to stay inside where it's warm and only venture outside to walk the dogs. So today's nail are inspired by... you guessed it, SNOW!
I used Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream as my base colour. I topped my ring finger with a coat of Sonnetarium Snowfall (very fitting wouldn't you agree?) and every other finger with Girly Bits January Morning (also very fitting!).
I freehanded the snowflakes using a nail art brush and white acrylic paint. Finally I added the rhinestones (1mm from eBay) using a dab of clear polish and finished it off with two coats of NYC In A New York Minute.

For a Finn it's always hard to understand how everything shuts down cos of snow. It's such a every day thing here :P
ReplyDeleteI love the nail art! Great color choices :) Looks very winter-y :D
Lovely mani! Your free-handing skills look perfect, like stamped :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I must agree with RiaG. I grew up in a mountain region and always had tons of snow from October to March/April to play with (and rare school free days). Now I live in a region that is quite warm and I'm always amazed how surprised people act when it actually snows here. I'm like "it's winter and in winter there will be snow, get used to it!" LOL
I'm watching your work, and you're amazing. You do such a nice job... and you have good ideas. :)
ReplyDeletei'm from Hungary, so sorry for the grammar mistakes. :)
Stunning! It snowed here in the US, well AL...and it was a big deal aha. Not even an inch but schools were delayed and everything!
ReplyDeleteSnowy here in Yorkshire too but I think it's been much worse in other parts of the country! Dreading going back to work as I work at a train station so I reckon there'll be lots of angry people to deal with.
ReplyDeleteLove the snowy nails! I really really love the polish you've used on the ring finger, and the snowflakes are so pretty and NEAT! as always, jealous of your skills :-)
x
That's funny! I live in North Dakota in the US and our temperature right now is -8 Fahrenheit, but it feels like -35 because of the wind. I can't wait until I move back to a warmer climate.
ReplyDeleteThis shade of bleu you chose is gorgeous! and... snow flakes on free hand! just amazing.
ReplyDeleteLovely wintery nails!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful design <3
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. I'm in Berkshire, & it's crazy here. Love English snow days!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how you british react to snow, schools shut down and all that :D I live in Finland and I have never get the day off from school because of snow. Sometimes we get 50cm (20 inches) snow at a time and all we do is hope that the roads are in ok condition so we can cycle to school :D And we go to school even if there's -40 degrees Celsius outside, soo nice :D We have snow from november to march or april, so no spring for us for a long while.. But hey, snow means wintery manicures, I love this mani! You are so talented :) Have a nice winter and spring!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, I had a light glitter mani too, inspired by the snow of doom. Truly everything shuts down, blegh!
ReplyDeleteIts absolutely stunning! ITs also snowing here.. I hate snow by now .x
ReplyDeleteso pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid i cant relate to this post.. January = summer in australia!! It was 35 degrees celcius the other day!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful nails though :) xx
Very pretty and I love your pup :-) <3
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Sammy! I opened my front door yesterday and a pile of snow fell in. That's how bad it is here!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful nails inspired!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable dog!! :D We got 70cm (about 2.5feet) of snow last week! Most snow I've seen fall all at once before... but I understand how cool it would be for you to get that much when you're not used to it. Awesome manicure too!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely beautiful
ReplyDeleteIn Poland we have this kind of winter (and harder) 3-4 months in year, now is -11 degrees C. and 25 cm of snow... I hate winter... and I like your nails :-)
ReplyDeletePretty nails!
ReplyDeleteI'm a swed and I'm also amazed over some of Europe's reaction to snow. A little bit like jenny wrote about Finland, school is never closed in Sweden. It can be -40 celcius and it has happened that half a meter snow has dropped over the night but that's just life. And there's winter from november to march/april. Weird how different things can be in other countries. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I liked this manuicure! :)
This is really lovely! I'm always amazed by how your freehand painting is so neat and precise on such tiny surfaces. Your nail art is my favourite ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering though, do you usually decorate the nails on your left hand too? :)
Sorry for the spam.. I meant right hand! ><
ReplyDeleteLove it! Beautiful!
ReplyDeletereally looks like winter :) cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! So stinking pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your Winter mani!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, very prety!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!! I just did a similar story because here in Virginia we were supposed to get 3-5 inches and only got half an inch! But the city shut down anyway!!! That's so funny! Even tho I don't comment often-I'm always reading every post you do and wish my nails looked like yours!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute design! We have a lot of snow in Yorkshire as well, it's been non-stop all day. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE these! And yes.. snow. The Netherlands can't handle it either.
ReplyDeleteLol at that snow! I live in Wisconsin in the US and that's nothing!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the snow thing. We just can't hack it, motorists brains turn to mush and they crash into lamp posts and stuff. Love this mani, the white hex glitter is gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteSonnetarium Snowfall is so pretty! Your mani makes me wanna go get it :P
