Spider-Man Nail Art Tutorial

Today I have a tutorial for the Amazing Spider-man nail art I created a few weeks ago. You can see the original post here.
This is the first tutorial I've made for a very long time! I normally procrastinate on them and then give up hope altogether because I've failed quite badly at making them in the past but I actually had a really good time making this one. I hope you enjoy it!

Step by step instructions after the jump!

A-England The Legend: Princess Sabra Swatch

I won't say too much about this polish. It applies like dream in two coats like all the holographics from The Legend collection. It's close to a nude shade but slightly more yellow than beige if you know what I mean. I've been saving my favourite colour from The Legend collection to show last so that will be posted very soon. It is pure beauty in a bottle. Can you guess which one it is?!

All That Glitters Is Gold

I know nail art posts have been scarce around here recently but I'm really low on ideas! I've mostly been wearing black on my nails because I'm going through a bit of a moody phase haha. Black and gold such a good combination to wear on your nails when you want to rock the dark look but glam it up and not look too gothic.

I finally got around to updating my Stamping Polishes page today so head on over if you want to see my list of regular polishes that work for stamping. You can find the page any time in the sidebar about half way down the page under the 'features' heading.

I used A-England Lancelot as a base and a gold glitter Kiss Nail Striper that my bestie brought me back from a trip to Canada to paint the tips. The rhinestone is from the Mash wheel and I used two top coats of NYC In A New York Minute to finish it off.

A-England The Legend: Princess Tears Swatch

I don't know if anyone noticed but I made a huge mistake in yesterdays post. Well technically the whole post was a mistake because it was a Pink Wednesday post and yesterday was a Thursday. I spent the whole day going about my business wholeheartedly believing it was Wednesday and it wasn't until I was lying in bed that I realised I'd made a huge mistake.

Moving swiftly on! Today's swatch is of A-England's Princess Tears from the holographic collection - The Legend. This is a lilac purple with glints of pastel holo. This is one of my favourites of the collection (from the ones I own anyway) because it's so pretty and easy to wear and once you get it in the sunlight it's completely mesmerising.

Give 'Em The Old Razzle Dazzle

I've been digitally absent for a few days bar the occasional tweet and it was nice to have a little break from my online commitments but I'm back with a vengeance and I have so many new polishes to show you.

It's a Wednesday which of course means pink!! This pretty pink glitter is Pam of Girly Bits' creation. Pam started out as a nail blogger and has taken her hobby one step further and set about mixing all the colours she'd been dreaming of owning but couldn't find on the shelves.

The polish I'm using today is called Razzle Dazzle and it's a pink jelly filled with pink and purple glitter. It works best for layering but three coats gives good enough coverage to wear it on its own.

Ring finger: BYS Tickle Me Pink and two coats of Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle*
Other fingers: BYS Tickle Me Pink and Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle* sponged on to the tips

Pam's shop will be reopening on February 25th with her new collection and all previously available polishes will also be for sale. You can order them directly from Pam, all the information is here.

Nineteen With Nail Tatz

Since I created this nail set, I've been desperate to try something similar on my own nails but I was very doubtful about whether I'd be able to paint such intricate details using my left hand. And omg I actually did it. By no means am I ambidextrous but wow, I completely surprised myself.
I'll definitely be doing this kind of thing again with different words and colours. It's such a cool twist on knuckle tatz without the whole lifelong commitment thing!

The base colour is Models Own Utopia
I used black acrylic paint for all the detail with a nail art brush.
On the thumbs I used W7 Cosmic Mauve (glitter) on the tips.
All coated with a few top coats of NYC.

A-England The Legend: Bridal Veil Swatch

Bridal Veil is another holographic polish from A-England's Legend collection. It's a black holo and these pictures absolutely suck at showing it's holo-ness!
In sunlight this polish gleams with emerald green and more subtle hints of every other colour on the spectrum.  As you can see, under artificial light it looks like a glass flecked black. B-E-A-Utiful!

I've noticed that clicking pictures, in chrome at least, brings up a kind of slideshow which is a cool new feature but the pictures are still not very big. If you want to see the highest resolution picture possible, you can right-click on the picture in the post and select 'Open link in new tab', 'Open link in new window' or 'Open image in new tab' and you should be presented with a much bigger picture. I hope this info comes in handy for anyone that didn't know, and it will work on most blogs and websites.

A-England The Legend: Dragon Swatch

A-England's 'The Legend' collection is a very hotly anticipated collection of 7 holographic polishes which finally went on sale this month. The colours in this collection were brought to life by Adina - the heart and soul of the brand - with just as much passion and care as The Mythicals collection.

I have a few colours from this collection to share with you this week and first on the list is Dragon - an earthy green holographic.

Two coats of A-England Dragon*
Top coat of NYC
Sorry for the artificial light pictures but sunlight is hard to come by in Britain in the early months. In natural light, the holographic effect is much more obvious.

The Legend collection is available now from a-england.co.uk with free worldwide shipping.

Valentine's Nails Take Two

I'm such a Valentine's Day cynic. There's no real reason this day has to exist but we all go along with it anyway. I won't go in to it too much because you'll all think I'm a crazy spinster!
I already posted a Valentine's manicure but this one's for you guys... I love every single one of you for reading this blog! Happy Valentine's Day!

The base colour is Cult Nails Quench. I used Sally Hansen Chrome Anemone for the lettering and the stamp from Bundle Monster plate BM02. The pink heart is Kriston 16 and I used Barry M Silver Foil for the accents.

Can a Nail Artist Get Some?

Some of you might know that I have a YouTube channel and anyone that's visited it will know that it's a lame excuse for a channel by any standards! As it stands, I only have 4 complete videos uploaded and quite a lot of failed attempts under my belt. The reason for this is the ancient camcorder I've been borrowing from my parents. It's very old and I've had a lot of problems getting the recorded footage to work with my computer. I've tried everything I can think of to get it working - different formats, new memory cards, new editing software - nothing works.

I've been resting on my laurels in this department and making excuses for myself for a long time and the day has finally come when I've decided to step up and do something about it. Since I don't have the funds at the moment (and it doesn't look like I will do for a while), I've come up with a project in the hopes of raising enough money to buy a HD camcorder so I can finally make some new videos for your enjoyment!

Here's how it works
I've been painting nail sets that I will be listing on Etsy. They're all one-of a kind, hand painted by myself.
If my calculations are correct (which they normally are!) I need to sell roundabout 13 sets to cover the cost of a camera, a memory card and the selling/paypal fees. Any money remaining from the proceeds of the first 13 nail sets sold will be donated to a charity of my choice.
Today, I'll be listing all the completed sets I have. There's a lot of work in progress and plenty more ideas in the pipeline. As I list more sets, I'll also post them here to keep you updated.

If you're interested in helping, please head over to my Etsy shop, have a browse and hopefully a buy!
You can click on any picture to take you directly to that listing.
Or click here to go to the shop front.

I'm new to selling on Etsy so constructive criticism is welcome :)
If you wanted a set but it's already sold, be sure to click the 'Request custom item' link in the left sidebar in my Etsy shop so I can make you another!

♪♫ How can somethin' so Vicious look so pretty in pictures?

I've been staring at the screen for a little while trying to think of something to say here today. I considered talking about this gorgeous colour from Cult Nails but you can see how gorgeous it is without me gabbling on about it, so I'll think I'll just leave it at that today!

Here's Time Traveller, one of my new colours from Cult Nails. I couldn't believe that this perfect TARDIS blue polish would have that name by coincidence so I had to ask Maria, Cult Nails' founder and owner, if it was in fact named for Doctor Who and it is which just makes me love it even more!

Huge thanks to every single one of you that follows my little blog. I suppose it's not that little any more but to me it will always just be my little quiet place. I wish I could give back to all of you, even if it's just a big cuddle, because it makes me so happy to know that you're reading and commenting. But today I'll have to settle for sending one of you some pretty prizes.

The winner is...

Fashion Footing

I've sent the lucky lady an email and if I don't receive a response within 48 hours, I'll pick another winner and the same rule applies.

Thanks so much to everyone who reads and entered!!

You Da Nails... Rihanna Inspired Nail Art

Welcome to day seven of my secret challenge for myself to post at least once daily for one week! I didn't want to mention it in case I couldn't stick to the schedule but today makes it one week exactly and I'm feeling quite proud of myself! The good news is I still have posts lined up for the next few days so I'll carry it on for as long as I can :)

This nail art was inspired by Rihanna's nails in the video for You Da One. Although I probably wouldn't sport pointy nails like hers, I love the chevron trend that's launching at the moment. We've already seen Lana Del Rey sporting a chevron style in her video and I think it's going to be a big trend this year. As nail art is becoming more popular and people are getting fed up of the classic french tip, this is a great alternative that you could probably still pull off in work.

I used Barry M Matt White as a base colour. I freehanded on the triangles with W7 Black and then outlined them with No7 Poolside Blue - all with a striping brush.

Rimmel Urban Princess - Pink Wednesday!!

Pink is out of my comfort zone but I love Pink Wednesdays for making me wear it! This pink falls way way outside of my comfort zone but as soon as it's on my nails I feel like I need to put my hair in pigtails and giggle excessively. It's so cute and bubblegummy!

The Amazing Spider-Nails (Spider-man Nail Art)

So I'm sat here trying desperately to some up with an idea for some awesome nail art and I have my new Cult Nails colours on the desk next to me, I'm eyeing them up and browsing the internet pointlessly like I always do and I see that The Amazing Spider-Man is trending on Twitter... *lightbulb*
The reason for it trending is the 2nd trailer which hit the internet this week after its Super Bowl spot. I watched it first thing this morning which has renewed my excitement for the movie and my love affair with Marvel/Superhero nail art!

I used Cult Nails Quench as a base then freehanded the tips with Cult Nails Time Traveller using a nail art brush. All the details are also freehanded with Barry M Silver Foil and I outlined the eyes with black acrylic paint.
