Glitter. I hate the stuff. I truly do. Has anyone noticed that as soon as you touch something with loose glitter on it, you'll find pieces of glitter all over yourself for the next two days at least?! Luckily, glitter polish isn't too bad on that account but it still has a habit of sticking to you and putting up a fight when you try to remove it from your nails.
I got off lightly with this manicure though. Because there are so many layers of polish, it wasn't even completely dry underneath when I removed it (about 1 hour after taking the pictures) so I could actually just peel of the whole thing one nail at a time! I can't imagine how long it would have taken me to get it all off otherwise.
I used W7 Cosmic Black - a black jelly packed with Silver glitter - as a base. Then I took a sponge and used it to apply W7 Cosmic Mauve from the tips. Then I added some Wet n Wild White to the mix but because it's not very opaque, it gave it a milky look. Finally I used a little more Cosmic Mauve right on the tips and used about 3 coats of NYC Top Coat to smooth things over!

black and purple and glittery :3 i like it
ReplyDeleteI love this! Wish I could do it. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeletePurple is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice but as you say, you have to be brave to wear glitter on your nails. Once you apply it, you're at war with it. And the removal... HELL.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I measure my braveness everyday: "Do I feel like I could wear glitter today?". The day I'll answer "yes" I'll be ready to rule the world.
I know what you mean about glitter. Acetone and felt is a girl's best friend when it comes to removal. A coat of gelous on top of your regular base also helps. That mani looks like it was worth it though - gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFantastic, I love this so much!!
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the colors and that purple glitter is amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteI like it that it hints at galaxy nails without actually being galaxy nails.
ReplyDeleteStunning!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeletelovely!!
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty Sammy! I love sponged glitter tips!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY LOVE THIS!!!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS colors. I wish I had a black like that base you used.
ReplyDeleteMy trick for glitter is that I have one anti-yellowing nail treatment that doesn't like being a basecoat, and if I use it under glitter the whole sheet of polish lifts off like it was a fake nail after a day or two.
Beautiful look! Even though uoudon't like glitter ou always do the best glitter ombrés!

Oo, pretty! Although, removing glitter is a complete pain in the arse...
ReplyDeleteI love it! I don't remember who posted it but removing glitter is super easy, if a bit weird. Soak a cotton ball in remover place on the nail and wrap in foil. Leave on for about 5 minutes. After that, just press down and slide all the polish off!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really good!!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Purple is my fav color and this looks SO bright and sparkly!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I loooove glitter manicures, even if they can be a pain!
ReplyDeletePretty! I went very thin on the glitter for mine as I knew I just wasn't in the mood for removal!!
ReplyDeletepersonally i love glitter, but it IS a nightmare to remove. i like that glitter you used here, i need more glitters that shade!
ReplyDeleteYou should try this technique for taking off glitter its so easy to do! See my tutorial at http://tinyurl.com/cjeu9v7

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous mani!!! Lovely color combo =)
ReplyDeleteaahh these make me wanna die. they are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe foil method defo works on glitter, but is finicky to me.
ReplyDeleteI started using this thing I found at ASDA called Nailene artificial nail & polish remover, and it literally gets it off in SECONDS. And you can clean it, add new acetone, etc.
I hate glitter too... but sometimes it's so worth it! Awesome mani!
ReplyDeleteyour nails look amazing. I've done the foil removal for taking off glitter nail polish. it takes time, but you take a small piece of cotton soaked in remover and then wrap each nail with foil around the cotton. it's better to do one hand at a time. leave on for 5-10 minutes and the glitter does come right off. it leaves your nails cold!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm ready to remove my glitter polish, I pour some acetone into a small dish, soak my nails, and everything wipes right off with a cotton ball.
ReplyDeletePretty good post, Beautiful nails.
