When I spotted this polish yesterday I immediately thought of Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday. It's a close match and could easily pass for HB from a distance but I'd put it closer to Wet N Wild Party of 5 Glitters. Cris has a great comparison post here where she goes in to all kinds of crazy detail about the glitter.
It's not really a polish I would normally pick for myself but I was convinced it was a dupe of a £15 bottle of polish for only £1 so I splurged (or not) and picked it up anyway. I'm actually surprised to find myself really liking this polish even though I wouldn't normally touch multicoloured anything with a ten foot pole!
By the way the polish is called Carnival from a brand called Technic and I found it in The Original Factory Shop but I've also seen the brand in Bodycare.
I used Rimmel Grey Matter as a base colour and a sponge to apply Technic Carnival to the tips. I finished with a few coats of NYC In A New York Minute to glaze it.

It's meant to be close to OPI Raibow Collection too. I love it over grey! I grabbed it from Bodycare but have been putting off using it because of getting it off afterwards! I love glitters but I really cba with them lol

ReplyDeleteLooks great with the grey base and I like how you put the glitter on the nail.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Wouldn't the glitters stick to the sponge? I will try it that way next time I do glitter tips.
ReplyDeleteI have this one too! The only trouble I found with it was there was quite a lot of clear varnish dripping off mine, so probably needs extra care when putting it on.
ReplyDeleteOuuu, this looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great in small doses over a muted colour, but I couldn't see myself having ten nails covered in that... lovely to add some interest nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteCute combo! I nominated you for some blogger awards because your blog is awesome! Cant wait to see more:)
ReplyDeleteI brought the glitter nail varnish because I thought it was a bargain! Thank you for this awesome idea and inspiration! x

What kind of sponge did you use to apply the glitter? I tried it with the brush and it didnt vome out as nice ;(
ReplyDeleteWith sponging it on do you get less of the jell its floating in?
ReplyDeletei put some stars floating in a clear on some red the other day (school color mani inspiring my daughter at a swim meet) i ended up dumping the glitter out on a paper and just picking up the stars with a dotting tool and getting them my nails....only thing is im done half a bottle now...and it was the only one on some tacky pharmacy shelf.
I have a question,I live in the USA,we can get rimmel London, but I've never heard of the Technic brand, can you buy online?
