Boots are running their £5 off No7 make-up when you spend £5 in store at the moment and since I always need hair dye or products, I take advantage and stock up while the offer is on so I get a few vouchers. I run right over to the No7 counter and pick out a nail varnish which then costs me just £2. Bargain!
I picked up Minty Fresh which is a lovely colour but an absolute nightmare to apply! The formula is not particularly thin but it drags and streaks like a byatch and needed 4 coats for opacity.
Here's my step-by-step. You can see the extent of streakiness on the first picture. I would recommend you stay away from this polish at all costs! I'm tempted to throw it out because it's so dang frustrating!
Anyway, on to the nail art... as if this mani couldn't get any worse, the colouring on the bullion that I used came off completely and smudged all the way up my nail when I applied my top coat. I still love the little detail though!

Very pretty! I love the nail art detail on the stamping ^_^
ReplyDeleteSuch a same the formula of this polish is so bad, as the colour is lovely.
I only have one No 7 polish I bought while I was there (Milan) and the formula is great! Bummer on this one, although the finished product is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just noticed your "nail" facebook, youtube, twitter, etc buttons... ADORABLE!!
If you thought getting the polish on was hard enough, good luck removing it if it's anything like the blue No7 polish I got with my voucher. Not a chance in hell I'd pay £7 for a No7 polish.. I feel robbed enough that I paid £2 on top of the voucher!
ReplyDeleteCel - Thank you! I'm so annoyed because I could've put the money toward the same colour in a different brand :(
ReplyDeleteAmber - Yeah most of them are great! I have quite a few and have never had this problem before. And thanks about the buttons :D
Brat - Was it poolside blue by any chance? No I would never pay £7 for them either!
xx
The mani is beautiful but I KNOW - No7 polish drags so much >:-(
ReplyDeleteNo, not Poolside, it was "stand back" - Mine went on fine, but chipped so easily and was an absolute bum to get off my nails (Ironic really considering how much it chipped!) It stained my nails so badly - good job I always have polish or gels on as it looked awful. I'm going to stick to Urban Decay and ELF polishes from now on, speaking of which.. I have 12 ELF polishes on their way to me. Muchos NOTD posts coming up lol x
ReplyDeleteLisa - I've never had a problem with my other No7 polishes but this one has put me off the brand :(
ReplyDeleteBrat - I love Stand Back! I've found Poolside Blue and Betty Blues are worst for staining. I looove E.L.F. polishes too!
xx
Bummer about the formula, maybe you could use it to franken with or something? I love the detail though, it is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI actually love how this turned out despite how much you hate the formula. XD You did a great mani!
ReplyDeleteThat manicure is AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful color, shame it takes so much work to get there... Worth it though, your mani looks smart!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I literally laughed out loud when I read the title! :D your face expression when applying the fourth coat of bitterness: http://www.myfacewhen.net/uploads/10-son-i-am-disappoint.gif
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the polish..but really nice mani! Love the detailing
ReplyDeleteI love the detail, and the colour is so beautiful... it's a pitty that the polish formula is so bad...
ReplyDeleteI've never really had a problem with No7 polishes before but i'll be sure to stay way from Minty Fresh! It looks a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteYou're created an awesome mani out of it though! I love what you did with the bullion beads! It looks like a greek evil eye!
Beautiful mani!!! Too bad for the formula.
ReplyDeleteI love the accent; filling in one of the patterns was a great idea! This is really pretty, so it's too bad that it was such a pain.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what do you use to make the little balls stick?
ReplyDeleteI hate polish that such a pain to apply! Love the stamp though-I have it and love it!
ReplyDeleteEven though the polish sucked, the bullion detail is SO cute..except I would NEVER have the patience to do that :(
ReplyDeleteto bad, but your mani looks very elegant, i like what you've done with this polish :-D
ReplyDeleteSo glad I didn't get that nail polish now! It's such a shame though, it's a really pretty colour.

I took advantage of the same offer and bought their bright red colour - Devils Delight. A beautiful colour and I think it was pretty opaque after only two coats. I did notice that I needed two coats of top coat otherwise it started peeling after only one day. I wonder if people buy No. 7 polish without the discount, £7 is pretty steep for something that isn't great!
ReplyDeleteIts so great that you managed to make such a bad polish look nice with your detailing! bravo :)
