Side Frenchy

Here, as promised - a brand new post.

Top Coat of NYC

I don't know if I've mentioned before, but this NYC Top Coat I always use is AMAAAZing because it doesn't smudge the Konad designs like many topcoats. I found it in a store called 'The Original Factory Shop', which is basically a seconds store, for £1 a bottle. I bought a few but they don't have any more and it's near impossible to find anywhere :(

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. Things are pretty hectic now I'm finishing my first year at Uni and I've had a few deadlines to meet and still got looooads of exams to revise for. So here it is... I promise you a post tomorrow. (:

My First Franken

No Konadicure today because I made my very first Frankenpolish. I wanted to make a rosy pink as all of my pinks are either very dark or very pale, so I set out to make something in the middle.

Below you can see the polishes I used. The Franken is mainly made up of the colour you can see 3rd from the right, with varying quantities of the rest. It was very 'I'll try a bit of this and see what happens' but a very fun experience. I recommend it!! I know I will definitely be doing it again :D But next time I will get some ball bearings for assisting with the mixing as the crook of my elbow is really achin' from the shakin'!

My New Favourite Colour

I have wanted a torquoise/tealy colour for aaages. It's my favourite colour but I have never found one. So, as I was in Primark yesterday, I thought I would check the cosmetics as I have a few polishes from there already and THERE IT WAS. I was so excited, and it was only £2!!
It took 3 coats to get rid of all streaks but it's very fast drying. And with a top coat, it's wearing very well.

Fauxnad Haul

This is my recent Fauxnad haul from eBay. It was £12.99 for 12 plates plus a plastic scraper and stamper. Good Times :D
I bought them from eBay seller Syster from Hong Kong and they only took 6 days to get here (over the bank holiday weekend might I add) so I didn't have to wait very long as I thought I might. And - no customs charge - BARGAIN!

I'm pretty chuffed with them. The scraper is not very good - it leaves lines of polish everywhere. But then I don't like the metal one either as it leaves scrape marks all over the plates so I just use one of my old student cards.

Today's lace nails effort

I have wanted to try lace nails for quite a while now and today I finally got around to buying some lace. I can't remember which blog I saw it on but someone gave me the idea of using tape to cut pieces of lace the perfect size for the nail.
So... I used sellotape. I stuck each piece to my fingertip, over my nail completely and drew around my nail with a Sharpie.
Then I peeled off the tape and stuck it straight on to the lace so I could cut out the right shape. Then you have to carefully peel apart the lace and the tape which requires some patience but the lace came away pretty undamaged.
I used a dark, reddy brown, base for my white lace. I let that dry. Then, one nail at a time, plaster on top coat and quickly put on the lace and pat it down with tweezers or nail clippers. Once it is a bit more tacky, you can use your fingers to press it down.
I put a top coat on my pinky finger but it darkened the lace so left it off the rest (as you can see in the picture)

Considering this was my first time, I'm quite pleased with the results. I think next time I would prefer a dark lace and light shade of polish.

I used:
Base Colour: L'Oreal LaquiResist 838 - Really old, bought it from the local market
Top Coat: NYC High Shine Top Coat
Lace: £1.35/metre from Hobbycraft (:

Pinkbells

I used:
Konad Plate: M54Base Colour: W7 - Black!
Konad Colour: Sally Hansen Chrome - 04 Garnet

Easy Tiger

I have a few pictures stored already to publish so I will just post them all now.

Most of my Polishes aren't big-branded. I see a lot of OPIs, China Glazes and the like in the blogs I read but don't own a single one! Nor do I have any Konad special polishes. These purchases just can't be justified on a student budget. So... for now I will let you know what I use and where I buy it.

Welcome one and all...

Firstly, welcome to my blog!

I decided to set up this blog after becoming obsessed with doing my nails and seeing other similar blogs dedicated to showcasing manicures.

I was originally inspired by 'The Daily Nail' (daily-nail.blogspot.com). Reading Melissa's blog every day, I discovered the Konad stamping system which is just THE BEST. At this stage I was already painting my nails a new colour every day but Konad just made it so much more fun!

I live in the UK and am at University studying Accounting and Finance. As well as manicures I also love music, films and photography! So I will also be posting about those other hobbies purely for self-gratification. So please enjoy :D
